Re: Skoda Kushaq Review

Can current owners advise if installing a 70 mai dashcam devoid the warranty?
I am expecting delivery of my Kushaq next week and I plan to install the dashcam during delivery.

The roofliner is subpar and clearly a result of cost-cutting.
It baffles me that you compare the plastics in your 30 lakh octavia to a 20 lakh kushaq that is placed a segment lower. It is akin to people comparing gold to silver. The end result is moot as gold will always be more valuable than silver. We kushaq, slavia, virtus and taigun owners don't compare our cars to i20 or the grand vitara because we know what we paid for and don't call them "meh".

No offense, but you will be surprised to see i20 have better plastic quality and upholstery quality than Kushaq/Taigun and Virtus.

It's ofcourse a fact that VW 2.0 cars have departed from one of their strengths - interior plastic quality. A 2015 polo/vento/rapid has better interior quality than a Virtus or kushaq.

Re: Skoda Kushaq Review

1st Service experience for Kushaq 1.0 AT

After 1 year of owning the car, went for 1st service to Mody Kurla Mumbai workshop. Mody Skoda had been following up to schedule the service for the last two months. Following observations made it a great experience (in comparison to when I was a Maruti Suzuki Dzire AGS owner).
  • As I had opted for Service Maintainence Package at time of purchasing the car, total amount to be paid was 0. There was no 'pushing' of any additional add-on service or accessory.
  • The service advisor, Sunil, was very knowledgeable and patient in hearing out issues. As I would be going back after another year, it was important not to miss anything, so I prepared a list beforehand and Sunil patiently entered each item in his system.
  • The infotainment system software was updated. Now my OnePlus 12R phone can be used for Android Auto using a cable.
  • I have been advised to maintain a tyre pressure of 34, as I had complained about a 'bouncy ride' over poor quality Mumbai roads.
  • I had taken the car during the initial days to Mody Goregaon to fix driver side window bounceback issue. I had to make three trips to Goregaon in order to get it fixed. Even after that, the issue used to occur rather infrequently. In this service, Kurla team checked for any faulty parts and fixed the gap in the glass rubber beading, which has ultimately sorted the issue for good.
  • The AC is not super effective during day time. Takes a long time to cool the cabin if the car is parked in an open area. Even though Kurla team changed the AC filter, I have not noticed any improvement in cooling. Usually I keep the cabin temperature at 22.
  • There is a definite improvement in ride quality. I am not sure when to get wheel alignment + balancing done. Any pointers would be helpful.
I definitely recommend the Kurla workshop for anyone in Mumbai. Looking forward to some great driving experience till the next service is due!

Re: Skoda Kushaq Review

I have a Kushaq Style 1.0 MT and due to the heavy rains in end June in Delhi, the car got caught in the subsequent waterlogging.

At the servie centre, they changed almost everthing in the engine department - alternator, belts, control module (ECM & BCM), etc. However, after getting the car back, there have constant issues with the car.

Within 2 weeks of the getting the car, the battery died out, which had to be replaced with a new one eventually. After about 1.5 months, one fine day display screen did not light up after I pressed the starter button. I thought the battery had died out again but that was not case. After sending it again to the service centre, they tried a number permutation and combinations by taking out all the control units and putting it in a demo car, which started. So they figured out that there would be some problem with the wiring. After they cleaned out all the wiring in my car, the car is now able to start.

Questions to the experts
=> Has anybody this kind of a situation with their Kushaq
=> Would mere cleaning of wiring be suffice or should I go in for a complete overhaul of the wiring. I suspect that wires would be getting short, which can also be a cause battery drainage earlier.

Thanks

Re: Skoda Kushaq Review

I have booked a Skoda Kushaq sportline 1.0 tsi AT. Wanted to know from fellow owners in Bangalore if it makes sense to go for the service package. My running is not high and I doubt I'll be completing 15k at the end of the year. Also I confirmed with the sales guy that extended warranty can be taken anytime before the 2nd service of the car.

If it is not hardwired for parking mode, I think it should be fine. I had installed it by myself and I have visited service centers in Chandigarh and Hyderabad, no one has objected till date.

I've purchased service pack for 1.5 TSI MT and it costed me around Rs 25000/-. My running pattern is pretty similar to yours. From my experience, if the rates of service don't get inflated by a huge amount it's pretty much the same as not purchasing it altogether.
Please go over this pagehttps://www.skoda-auto.co.in/aid/ser...ost-calculator and calculate it.
IMO, it is ok to not even purchase it for your driving pattern as long as you approach the service advisor with a clear understanding of what work is mandatory as per service schedule.

Not really, we paid 21 lakhs for our Octavia in 2020, so not that far off.

Re: Skoda Kushaq Review

Hey everyone. Before, I ask for an advice, I just wanna say that since It's a turbocharged 1.0 MT engine, expecting it to be fuel efficient is far fetched but you can expect some decent number if you are a calm driver, not that enthusiastic. So, I have noticed something unusual about my Kushaq. Earlier when I used to drive on highway, i used to get 17-19 KMPL consistently, along with 12-13 in the city, mild traffic. Now, post my wheel balancing and alignment, where the wheels have been cross shifted, rear left to front right conversely, the fuel efficiency has been brutal. I get mere 10 and sometimes single digit in traffic, again mild traffic it is. The weird part starts now, today I drove on a highway and whenever I accelerate, sedately, the fuel efficiency drops like anything! This wasn't the case earlier. I'd put on cruise control and still the fuel efficiency would increase at it's own pace. Now, when I disengage the clutch from engine, car becomes nimble and the fuel efficiency again increases but the moment I press accelerator, boom! It's reducing. Now, I know its a turbocharged but even if you press a little bit to main speed, it shouldn't be drastically reduced. Car stands 13700km, I fill XP95 and Nitrogen 34 PSI. Any tips or tricks I could use?

Check the air circulation, if its outside, keep it to internal.

I really don't think service packages are worth the money you pay for them. If you are able to get the dealer to throw it in for free, then it's a whole different matter.

Do you mean extended warranty or SVP? As far as I know, extended warranties can be taken anytime before expiry of the standard warranty.

Why did you cross the wheels across the axles? As per the Kushaq owner's manual, the rotation pattern is to switch the wheels between front and rear without changing sides.

I noticed it post wheel balancing and alignment as they marked the my tires as "RF, LF, FL, FR" that they changed in cross pattern. Should have taken time to observe, Now some said that it is fine, but now I will have to visit them back to change it. Will show this from the manual book. Thanks kind sir.

We have decided to hold the purchase for now. Skoda have officially confirmed the Kushaq facelift for 2025.

Re: Skoda Kushaq Review

My Kushaq 1.5MT has done around 36k kms. In the 3rd service, i mentioned about the brake squeaking noise that has been there since a long time. The service advisor suggested replacing the brake disc and brake pad suggesting it’s worn out. Is it normal for the brake disc to be replaced so early?
Here’s the pics i took of the brake disc
