Mahindra XUV700 Review
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/official-new-car-reviews/240680-mahindra-xuv700-review-342.html)
Folks,
after a long wait (feels like a year), the car is finally allotted - got the call this morning. Along with the call, i was also told that the car prices are going to increase again on 31st March and therefore, my insurance and road tax would go up (since the price protection would only apply for the ex-showroom price). Dealer has informed that they can complete the billing (if i make the full payment) and help with "price protection". the protection amounts to about 10K - but, that would mean i pay the full price for the vehicle even without seeing the vehicle.
now, i have asked the dealer to give me in writing that they will take responsibility for the car till it is delivered to me (even though it has been invoiced) and they have refused to do so. in my mind - the 10K savings isnt worth the trouble (once it is invoiced in my name - the vehicle is mine and the only recourse i have is via guarantee / warrantee).
just reaching out to this community to see if i am wrong in deciding that the extra 10K is worth the peace of mind to do the PDI and then get the billing done.
1) no financing involved
2) i also get the feeling this is more for the dealer to close their books with additional sales for the year rather than an upcoming price hike - i could be wrong.

Absolutely, do a thorough PDI before paying the full amount, according to me the 10K saving is not worth the (potential) trouble
Seeing multiple posts on Team BHP and other channels about accidents involving XUV700, I am wondering whether many of us are just not ready to handle a powerful car like this. While it is unclear that whether the high frequency of accidents perceived is due to popularity of the car or is indeed disproportionate to the number of XUV700s on road.
The below post inspired me to post this! It is in Tamil; briefly, a high-speed XUV avoided a jay-walker at high speed, went over a median and intercepted a Ritz, killing the driver of that car.

Yet another video here showing high speed collision:

With 3+ months of owning one, I can acknowledge that one may not realize that they are cruising at silly speeds. The amount of power it delivers and stable breaking gives you a false sense of safety to do crazy maneuvers. I do not think there is something practical that someone can do to avoid this beyond basic customer education. But sad to see the side-effect of a well-engineered powerful car on Indian roads!

1. Till how long can the car be kept before it's allotted to somebody else? And can the same be done without my approval?
2. What minimum amount needs to be paid if I want the delivery of the vehicle on a later date and for the car to not get allotted to somebody else? |
I was in a similar situation where I was not ready with the funds when the car was allotted to me. So i requested them to give me some time to arrange finances. Because I maintain a good relation with NBS Andheri (prior owner of XUV500) they gave me 10 working days which is their official position. This is how it played out.
Nov 30 - Vehicle allotted. Requested some more time to arrange finances stating that as per all reports delivery was not expected until 2022. Few days of chatting.
Dec 2 - They confirmed that they can only hold the vehicle for 10 working days. A bit more of chatting bought me another few days as the GM was busy in training.
Dec 7 - they asked me to write an official email requesting them 10 working days. Agreed to Dec 20/21 to make good the OTR value. But an initial instalment of 5L as good faith.
Dec 17 - Paid the ex-showroom price in 2-3 instalments to bring the car to showroom for PDI. They confirmed is anything wrong the will cancel the invoice. But they need the full ex-showroom price to move the car to the showroom.
Dec 18 - PDI at the showroom. All good so told them to proceed with registration. As I had already secured the number of choice on my own on Dec 18 itself on the advance receipt.
Dec 20 - Paid balance amount holding back 75K till delivery. They need the full value to proceed with registration after which the invoice cannot be cancelled.
So it will take a bit of relationship building to get them to meet you somewhere and accommodate your needs.

The invoice can be cancelled before going for registration. But yes 10K is not worth going through the trouble and stress. Do what you feel will keep you at ease.
Just my two cents.
Cheers!
Has anyone done an anti-rust underbody coating for the XUV 700? The dealer says it's not recommended. Thoughts?

I have done it and it was recommended by the dealer only. Cost me 4000 bucks
Need advise: I have a booking for XUV700 AX7 L AWD, the absolute top end. Delivery is due in June or July. But I wanted to save cash and get early delivery, so got myself a Kia Carens 2 weeks ago. Now what can I do with my XUV booking?
A. Cancel: the easiest option
2. Transfer: can I get the car from the dealer without registration, and give it to someone else? Obviously there are people in my circle interested in it
3. Postpone: Can Mahindra postpone my delivery by a year or two, while stil offering price protection?

Your only option is to cancel. Trust me when I say that Mahindra specifically are not accommodative of options 2 and 3. They will fight you down to tooth and nail to ensure that it leaves a very bad experience for you!
The dealer will act like a helpless bystander and will be of no help!
Lots of information to absorb & thanks for an exhaustive reply.
Lack of Parking mode, no sound, lack of facility to transfer of videos to some other device and only 32GB SD Card are bummers though.

The dealership does not recommend anything more than the 32gb card. Someone in the forum was to try the higher capacity card, but not heard if it was successful.
The resolution is quite good. Could read the license plate numbers on the screen, but true test will only be when we can transfer the videos to our own device but currently that feature is not available.
Features
1. Continuous recording but only when the car is turned on. There’s no park mode or sentry mode like Tesla. (I believe in case of accident it is supposed to move the video to the “emergency” folder so that it wont be over written. Yes when the card gets full, it will over write the oldest video
2. There are two folders: General and Emergency. All videos are recoded by default in the general folder. You can move videos to the Emergency folder manually as well to protect them. On holding down the camera button on the centre console will also move the current recording to the emergency folder.
3. Video recording can be set for 3-min or 5-min durations
4. 4 camera angles: Front, rear, left & right
5. Records speed, date and time but not sound
6. Clarity is very good (haven’t seen night video yet). Could check and let you know
7. You cannot transfer the videos to your personal device for viewing. Your can view the videos on the infotainment screen itself. Else you will have to take it to the workshop for them to access the card and transfer the videos.
If you have any specific questions you need answers to, could let you know, but this is all I can think of.
Cheers! |

if you are in a coastal city, always good to get this done. my vw didnt need it in hyd, but when i moved to chennai, it ended up getting impacted - so, did it after 2 years of purchase (when i moved). will get it done for my xuv when i take delivery.
Have a doubt. I am trying to get rear headrest monitors for my XUV. The sellers at JC ROAD are saying they will connect these to the dashboard itself. Wouldn't that tamper the electricals, thereby voiding the warranty ?

My advice, DO NOT go to J C Road for stuff. Primarily for two reasons,
- It's the hub of counterfiet stuff ( unless you know the shop owner personally )
- The workmen there care two hoots for your warranty and will splash all sort of wires to get stuff working. This will void the warranty

No I don't. Usually the accessories guys in the ASC used to do it for the 5OO, I thought they could do it for the 7OO. If they say they won't or can't do it, I wouldn't risk it while the car is under warranty.
I would just buy a cheap tablet and install a hotspot :)

You can’t really expect 24/7 recording cause that will 100% drain the battery. As it is there are battery drain issues related to Adrenox. This feature only makes sense on electric cars.
