2022 Maruti Baleno Review
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/official-new-car-reviews/248859-2022-maruti-baleno-review-37.html)
My dad plans to replace his Sonet iMT Turbo Petrol. Rationally (There are some irrational reasons that is driving the need for replacing Sonet, unfortunately can't share those here)speaking there is only one issue with this car, i.e. the low mileage he gets (10 KMPL in Pune traffic, I get 12-14 in same region). Somehow he is not able to extract more mileage from it.
He has shortlisted the Fronx Delta + MT and Baleno Zeta MT. Can you please share your mileage reviews for Baleno MT in moderate city traffic (my region rarely has bumper to bumper traffic and I am able to extract 12-14 from Sonet).
Would be very helpful. Thanks!
Bumper to bumper you can expect 11-12. Also depends on driving style. In the highways with cruise control set to 90-95kmph, expect between 20-22. All this on a Baleno Alpha AGS

Hi Raj,
A bit late update. After the warranty was rejected I did send an email to Maruti explaining my issue and my vehicle details, from there they ended up enquiring about the issue to the service center I went to and the issue was escalated and I got few calls telling me that the job card was not closed and they are still looking for a solution and they will try to fix this with the extended warranty even though it's not covered under it.
Long story short I got the infotainment system replaced with a new unit on August 3rd and it took a few visit to the service center to record the issue again and to do a few swap tests with the old unit and the one they ordered.
In the end I did felt like the warranty coordinator did try his best to find the solution to my issue and I don't have any hard feelings to them.
I was told that the new unit costs around ₹57,000 and the extended swap tests were needed because their TSM changed during my issue and to make sure that Maruti will accept the fault when they ship the old unit back to them and to reimburse the service center for the new unit they ordered. |
As I saw in your videos your issue was quite consistent, but on my car its very intermittent. Its very difficult to reproduce in front of the SC people.
Though I have few footages of the issue dont know Maruti Suzuki will consider it or not. I have noticed it to happen frequently when the infotainment heats up.

In my case it wasn't that consistent in the beginning. My issue started in 2nd week of May and lasted only 2-3 days, afterwards there was no issue for 2 weeks. Even then it was intermittent.
The videos I took wasn't enough to register a proper complaint as per the SC people, they had to reproduce the issue by putting my stereo in another Baleno alpha and reproduce the issue, and they had to record the video with car's numberplate and chassis number in the video.
It took around 30-40 minutes to record the first video with them and it was on May 31st. After that the issue gradually increased in June and then reduced.
When they asked me to record the issue again in July I postponed the dates because the issue wasn't happening regularly and they agreed.
By July 3rd week it came back and I promptly took the car to them and left it there for a whole day for them to record the issue and they were able to do it.
From my experience it usually happened after driving for a few minutes when it was happening intermittently. Sometimes it was worse when I start the car after parking it without any shades.

I have noticed it happens when the unit gets heated up a lot. It happened to me when I was on a long ride of around 300 plus kilometers during the daytime, and even noticed it when starting the car after parking the car under direct sunlight.
Now as there is heavy monsoon here in Kolkata and the ambient temperature is also a bit sedate the issue isn't occuring yet.
Your SC guys tried a lot to help you out but in my case they are straight away dening to take any steps as the car is out of warranty.
Really disappointed with MS service.
My car was August 2022 manufactured near about the same period as of your car and I guess there is a major issue with the clarion system of that batch of cars and MS isn't doing a recall as it is a infotainment system and its malfunction doesn't cause any safety hazard to the car.

I had the same issue, when the issue started the weather was really hot and it reduced after a few days of rain. But in my case it came back two weeks later one night when it was raining so that got me a little puzzled.
Since my issue was filed on the last day of warranty I was told that clarion rejected the claim, only after mailing to maruti it was escalated. In the end they told me they'll be filing it under the extended warranty (not sure what really happened there). Maybe you can follow the same route since it happened to you before the warranty expiration date.
I mailed maruti support without much faith in it but they did provide a positive response. I got this (contact@maruti.co.in) mail id from maruti suzuki website and that is were I contacted them. All I did was wrote about my issue in detail with a few YouTube video links of my issue and mentioned my cars registration number.

My issue arised before the expiry of my warranty but due to some time constraints I reported it to SC after 6 days.
And I do not have any extended warranty.
I too did mail to MS they have forwarded the same to SC and SC is saying me the same thing that the warranty has expired.
Well I would like to know a few things from you.
1. When the issues started arising which firmware version were you running on?
2. Which firmware version is your current infotainment system running?
I suspect the issue might be linked with the latest firmware version (55TA.07.00) as it started just after the update and the update was released on May. In the Toyota Hyryder forum I have seen a fellow member post the infotainment screen getting vertical lines after the latest .07 update
I want to check by rolling back the firmware but dont know the process. Do you have any idea for the firmware rollback?
I also found a guy on YouTube who repairs the infotainment systems but its in Delhi and will have to ship the infotainment to him.

- I wasn't running the latest firmware when the issue first happened I belive I was using version 55TA.05.60 and updated it to 55TA.07.00 after 2 days.
- The new infotainment came with version 55TA.07.00 pre installed.
After my initial claim was rejected I was in the process of repairing the system by myself, I think I saw a youtube video of someone from Delhi doing this on an older maruti infotainment but wasn't sure about shipping it to them.
My next step of action if the maruti email didn't go anywhere was to detach the touch screen from display by myself if at all possible since Android auto can work with voice control and steering wheel controls without touch input, I've even tried living without the touch screen for a day without much issue.
Anyway this is an unacceptable issue from maruti that too just when reaching the end of the warranty period. Since maruti introduced this infotainment system with baleno we are the first users to use this particular system for this long. When newer cars becomes this old we might see a widespread issue if it is there. I was also told that clarion is not the only manufacturer of this infotainment system.
From the warranty coordinator I came to know that they don't have any previous recorded history if this happening and when I asked them how it happened they told me it could've been a manufacturing issue and not something to do with the weather or use case.
Greetings, this is my first post on Team-BHP. I’ve always wanted to review my ride, but I’ll leave that for another day.
I have a pre-owned 2023 Alpha AGS. I have a few queries.
1. There is a sort of faint hissing sound when the driver side door is opened. Usually when I cold start in the morning or if it’s parked for a couple of hours. Happens only with driver side door
2. Apple CarPlay wireless. GPS is very erratic. It does not have the same issue on android auto.
3. Any way to keep the 360 cameras running at higher speeds?
4. Is it worth upgrading the tyre size from 195 to 205? I’m on stock apollos and although it’s sufficient for city use, at higher speeds(70+), there is a lot of tyre noise.
Thank you.
That hissing sound is due to AMT gearbox pumping transmission fluid. It's normal and happens only when you open the drivers door.

The infotainment system removal requires opening of two to three dashboard panels and from your previous post as you have said they did multiple swap tests, how was the overall work done by the ASC? Any scratches, rattles or squeaks form the dashboard after the replacement?

Mine was taken apart about 3-4 times for the tests and installation and after the new one was installed there is a small rattle from the AC vent when driving on bad roads, I didn't find any scratches.
A friend is opting for Baleno AMT alpha variant in Bangalore. What accessories should we be installing on car? Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Seat covers, mud flaps and 3D floor mats will suffice for the Alpha variant.

IMO the 195's should be fine, esp looking at the 1.2 litre engine with AGS. But when you do change the tyres, you can move to better tyres - may be Conti UC6 / Michelin / etc.
The Apollo's would be stock tyres, and stock tyres in non-luxury cars are normally not the best when it comes to road noise/grip etc.
