1. There is no problem with the ground clearance in almost all situations even with a full load. The car doesn't squat on full load. I have travelled with 4 healthy adults including a very healthy adult (me lol:) and 3 medium size suitcases and couple of small bags, not once I faced any problem with GC even on really bad roads. I remember scrapping only once which was under the front bumper while backing out from a steep slope at a parking. This can be avoided by doing a cross backing out one wheel at a time.

2. Since the product is about 3 years now in its lifecycle, I doubt if there would be any radical change for the next 2 -3 years. May be few cosmetic additions at the most.

Overall the car is great and has ample space for passengers, the boot is not spacious enough to haul big instruments (I'm assuming big keyboard, drums set or even the bass guitar). Added to that the boot lip is high due to which an additional lift is needed to keep the items in the boot. I'd suggest trying this out at home by calling for a TD.

For this use case, I'd suggest checking out Brezza VXI AT or Skoda Kylaq.
You can add an after market HU that supports AA/AC. Brands like Sony or Pioneer offer great features and sound quality with customization of speaker set up to suit a musician's preferences. Plus, the AT gearbox is much much better than the AMT.

Thank you so much! That was reassuring and very helpful. I've also been telling her to check out the Brezza VXI AT but let's see how things go. I absolutely love the Karoq but not sure how she can handle (or even me for that matter) the Skoda service. We will test drive the Baleno today and will update how things go ahead. Thank you so much for the quick response.

I own a Baleno Alpha MT which has clocked around 8.5k kms. Recently I have noticed a clanking noise while releasing the clutch which is coming from under the bonnet. The sound is not very evident while driving due to various ambient noise on the road and the AC. In my parking area when the car is turned on and in neutral while I release the clutch, the noise is much evident.

I would like to know from fellow members if this clanking noise is normal for a hydraulic clutch or something is wrong with the clutch assembly of my car.

Hey I logged in today just to post this and planned to take a video before going for first service You saved my time with the videos and the history here:).

I got an Alpha AGS last week and covered close to 900km and planning to do the 1st 1k service in couple of days once the magic number is crossed.

I felt the noise couple of days after the delivery at my home. I didn't noticed this noise in the 40k ODO TD vehicle while testing the parking feasibility. I was very vigilant during TD and observed for any noises in the car as these TD vehicle would be the best identifier for accelerated failiures. Unfortunately I noticed this clunking noise in my 1wk old car and missed to notice it or it is not there in the TD car to my knowledge.

I called the sales person and he could not able to recognize what exactly i'm referring to, so suggested to take it up in the 1st service as the 1st service is meant for these small doubts and vehicle inspection.

Other than this i noticed some other issues also,
  1. Rattling noise from AC ventilated
  2. Noise from HUD occasionally like the plastic is being twisted
  3. Rattling noise from rear seat/parcel tray
  4. RPM rising to 3k RPM without Upshifting at its usual 2k even in flat road, need to lift the accelerator and press again to induce the upshift - may be i'm new to AMT from 1.3D manual
  5. AC is horrible, fan noise is more than the throw and nothing from the footwell. They should have removed the foot throw mode button from the panel

Coming from a solid Tata Zest 1.3D manual, I feel the car is a super downgrade interms of torque, power delivery, steering feel, suspension comfort (compared to a car with 1,20,000km ODO), ride quality, door thud, switches, etc. Unfortunately this is the best among all small 4m cars - no wonder it's in the top 5 consistently :D

The AGS variant might have different mechanisms for the clutch release unit. I own an MT variant and the sound does seem to be coming from the slave cylinder of the clutch unit while releasing the clutch. While there is no issue with the clutch mechanism and the noise is almost inaudible while driving, I haven't visited the SC yet and will show it to the SC on my next scheduled service.

Some rattles from the left AC vent and the HUD are common across the new gen Baleno. I have heard many users complain about these rattles. Do check your tyre pressure as the showroom guys do overinflate the tyres. I maintain a tyre pressure of 29-30 PSI which reduces the rattles to a large extent. I haven't had any rattles from the rear seat or parcel tray. I did skip the AGS for the manual due to the various shortcomings of the AGS tech. The MT with the soft hydraulic clutch is very easy to drive in the city traffic. And for the AC unit, I don't have any complaints, it's a chiller. I don't use the auto mode for the AC though.

The rattles are really disturbing on a peaceful drive, I usually put some music to make it not so noticeable but recently there seems to be a new rattle that is coming from the back boot area. Anyone experiencing this?

Dear Bhpians,

I have purchased a Baleno MT Alpha in Nov 2024 and I have clocked 6K Kilometer.s I am facing the following issue recently - "long engine start". The engine cranks too long before starting. Please look in to the video for understanding. This issue is not happening everytime I start the car and it does not have a pattern. Sometimes, this happens during a cold start and while starting the car after a short break during a long highway run.

I have highlihted this issue during my 2nd Service with the ASC and showed this video to them to explain the concern. They brushed it off saying that they cannot replicate the issue in the service centre and they did not find errors while Scanning the OBD.

This is long start is distrubing and feels like my car is fallen sick.

Can you guys please advise why is this happening and what needs to be done to rectify this

One of my friend is planning to get the Baleno zeta plus variant. Seems Nexa is offering a very hefty discounts currently. I accompanied him this Sunday to nexa for booking process. The sales advisor confirmed that the car is 202t manufactured one.

Wondering what is making Maruti give discounts on running cars while announcing possible price hikes from 1st April (this doesn't look like panic reaction to current market). Further search reveal possible facelift of 2022 MY baleno to be expected in April /May, however that should again be a small/cosmetic update.

Does anyone think there could be a major update coming say change of engine (may be the 3 pot engine from current gen swift?)

Dear BHPians,

The footwell light in my Baleno is in orange colour. It is very dim light and it is only for the front row, not at the rear.

I am just curious to know:
1) Is it same with your cars too, and
2) I want to change the orange light to cool blue. Have you guys tried it.

Thank you.

I think it’s dim for a purpose. Most aftermarket lights are powerful but switch off when doors are locked. However, in Baleno, it’s activated based on headlight usage. So, if you’re installing a brighter light, the interior maybe a lot more brighter than you’d want it to be.

Activated based on headlight usage - this is configurable and can be set to come on when the doors are opened.

Hey there, I have done the footwell light upgrade in my Baleno, it's a pretty simple plug and play modification.

Initially I tried it with the cool blue footwell light available as an accessory for Brezza, but unfortunately it seemed more like light green rather than blue and didn't really suit the interior of the car.

I later changed it to white footwell lights available on the s-cross, the part was ordered from boodmo and took a few weeks to be delivered, but I found it much brighter and aesthetically better compared to the cool blue footwell lights.

Things which could have been better ?
  • The stock apollo tyres carry a bit of noise inside the cabin.
  • The alpha variant gets UV cut glass , which helps A LOTTTT in these scorching summers. Maruti should atleast provide this on the Zeta variants !! Can we get these retro fitted in Zeta at MASS ? If yes any idea how much it would cost ?
  • Even though the interiors are new , I still like the beige treatment on the glanza more !!

ODO : 3317
Roundtrip : 1377 kms

Overall its a fun to drive machine with good comfort and fuel efficiency. Looking forward to crunch more miles with this one Cheers !!

Alpha variant UV cut glass - Front LH and RH - 1980 rs each MRP
Rear LH and RH - 1310 rs each MRP in showroom + 1500 rs labour , so 8500 total including GST. ( Bangalore - Indiranagar)

I was thinking of replacing the lights too. It would be great if you could share some pictures of the car interior with the lights on along with the product link.

A photo of my car's dashboard to show how dim the blue footwell lights appear usually.
