Congratulations P72NX. I followed-up with my dealer PPS, Indiranagar today, It looks like they still don't have any update on Diesel RWDs.

If you talk to customer care, they will provide pretty accurate timelines.

In my case, March 2023 was initial delivery date given by Customer Care but later changed to March 2024 (tentative), They advised to check with Dealer only for Delivery date. However, My dealer confirmed that my booking is in first lot and will deliver as soon as they receive first batch of vehicles. Fingers crossed. :thumbs up

Picking the car on Thursday.
One week after taking delivery of my RWD Thar, I completed 1000 kms on the Odo. I got the 1000 km service done where a complimentary wash and check is carried out. No charges are levied but Mahindra stresses that this service is a must for warranty purposes.
A friend of mine got his Thar RWD D MT in grey colour a couple of days ago after waiting for 2.5 months (booked on Jan 10th and luckily he got price protection as far as I heard).
At first, he booked white but later suggested him to get any other colour as white looked bland on Thar. He waited patiently for white colour but dealer had no idea when white will arrive and few days later, he changed the colour to grey since his family was against getting black or red due to personal reasons.
Apart from Thar, he owns a 2020 Seltos 1.5P MT as well.
BTW, what's the current waiting period of Thar RWD D MT? Asking because we are planning to get one but the only grouse is waiting period and insisted dad to get the 4WD D AT instead since we can get one immediately and he can enjoy the convenience the AT gives but due to the price difference of ₹7L between RWD D MT and 4WD D AT, he is keen on getting the RWD. Asked my cousin to procure me a Thar RWD D MT since he knows the manager at Mahindra dealer (Automotives LB Nagar) but he told that its very difficult to procure a Thar RWD D MT immediately even if I book it now.

My contact at the dealership in Bangalore updated me with latest waiting periods: Petrol AT: 5 weeks. Not sure about MT. Diesel any variant post Sep 23.

The current Thar RWD D MT waiting period is about 1 year. I have been given tentative delivery date as May 5th, 2024. However, I'm frequently following up with the dealer and their Sales Head (from Bangalore) who said that they are expecting Diesel variants to be billed from March 31st onwards.
As per him "all dealers of Mahindra are pushing for delivery of Diesel RWD as they have lot of bookings and customers are hounding him day and night. So Mahindra has promised to start billing and delivery of these vehicles post March 31st".
I cancelled my booking of the Thar RWD MT D. The petrol AT RWD is readily available in Bangalore - the inventory balance in the stockyard was shown to me by the SA.

Oops, any reason for cancelling the booking? Are you going for 4x4? I believe, your dealer is PPS Lavelle road, right?

PPS Lavelle is indeed the dealer I had booked with. I've considered to hold on after the Jimny. I know it's a smaller car but I feel it suits my use case better.

Wow that grill looks super cool. Where did you get it done? I didn’t know that Mahindra people installed the Wrangler grill too.
