How can this be done on a mid variant like Delta+ & Delta+(O) ? Can we just add some OEM module with OEM wiring harness ?

Not a good idea. Even if someone offers you.

There is no way you'll get quality factory-fresh fitment.

750 km round trip to the hills and back with Fronx Turbo

Last Holi weekend, the Fronx Turbo did her second long trip, some 750 km round trip to the hills and back.

Started at 5 AM from home and reached back at 4 AM the next day.

South Delhi - Jim Corbett - Nainital - Kainchi Dham - Almora - Chitai Golu Devta Temple

The Fronx was stable at high speeds, with good power delivery for overtaking on the highways/climbing steep inclines, and the ride was neutral, which provided a fatigue-free experience.

90% of the drive in plains was with cruise control set at varying speeds from 60 to 100 kmph as per the prescribed limits.

Contrary to the last trip, https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offic...ml#post5877802 (Maruti Fronx Review) I was using the Cancel CC button more often to reduce speed instead of applying brakes for a slowdown. Even from 100 kmph, the slowdown was progressive, palpable, and very much controllable. Mileage was hovering around 21.5 kmpl in the plains.

Out of 750 km, 100 km was steep uphill and 100 km downhill with tricky bends and turns (which is not that noticeable going uphill).

We started the return leg at 7 PM, and the worst con of the Fronx was immediately felt. Pathetic headlights

To be frank, I am not missing the fog lamps here, but the sideways illumination is seriously poor. How I wished there was a cornering function for side illumination when we went downhill in darkness for illuminating left side edges of roads when taking sharp left down turns. Forward illumination is OK in pitch darkness but a nightmare when a vehicle approaches from the opposite direction with headlights on. How I wished Fronx/Taisor had a projector LED setup.

Got excellent mileage of 18.8 kmpl for the entire trip.

The day we reached back, Fronx went for her second free service, which was again a general check, thorough cleaning, and washing.

Cheers!

The Fronx headlight placement (height) from the ground is almost same as my 2009 Alto so for me there is no difference. In a Brezza the placement of the headlight is at more height from the ground.

And regarding the Fog Lamp, I see a Genuine Accessory from Maruti Suzuki. Please see below links.

FRONX FOG LAMP KIT - DELTA+/ZETA/ALPHA
Part No.: 990J0M74T11-010
Rs.7,890/-

Fog lamp is not necessary as per my requirement too.

it's side-way illumination which is missing when driving through sharp winding roads.

Is there any pic of post installation of Fog lamps.

Fog lamps do have a wide beam pattern and will surely help in side illumination.

Looks like Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the Fog Lamp kit for Fronx. I believe this fog lamp gets installed below the headlight in that trapezoid area. IMO Rs.7k is quite expensive for Fog Lamps.

Will check with the showroom guys. If the location is below headlights, then it is worth considering.

Similarly, it seems they have launched it for all variants of Grand Vitara too, although at nearly 8K.

I found one photo of the MGA Fog Lamp installed on the Grand Vitara from a Facebook page. It looks very ugly. If the Fog lamp kit for the Fronx is also like this then it will kill the good looks.

I have checked it in the new accessories bulletin from the showroom accessories manager. It needs cutting of the front bumper below the headlights, and frankly, to me, it is so gaudy that the entire look of the front fascia is compromised. For GV, the OEM fog lamps look good, although it needs bumper cutting, because of the space available below the headlight to accommodate the FL. For Fronx, the space available is very less and the large cut-out makes it look so disproportionate. Clearly, the installation will vindicate it as a quick afterthought.

Also, Maruti silently increased the price of the connecting tail lamp accessory by Rs. 1000! They even changed the part number. Old one was 36250M74T10 and the new one is 36250M74T12 priced at Rs. 8990.

Re: Maruti Fronx Review

My concern might sound a bit strange and probably a first in this forum. The 1l boosterjet engine is only being sold in fronx and given the discounts at showroom for this variant, I'm guessing MS is not doing much volumes so it might end up getting discontinued just like Baleno RS. Even internationally, this boosterjet engine has been discontinued in all major markets so my concern is about availability of critical parts for this powertrain. It's a direct injection engine so need for part replacements in long term ownership can not be ruled out.

Another question/concern is about vibrations of a 3 pot motor. Is it true that these vibrations increase in the longer term for any 3 cyl engine?

Maruti Suzuki has a strong presence in India, and this engine is also being used on the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, and Maruti typically ensures parts availability for discontinued models for a reasonably long time.

3-cylinder engines inherently have more vibrations compared to 4-cylinders due to their design, and over time, these can become more noticeable, especially if the engine is not maintained well. However regular servicing can keep these in check.

Moreover, Maruti seems to have plans to use the Boosterjet on more models with K15C engines, perhaps the Brezza, so that it can be brought into the lower tax slab, but nothing seems to have moved in that direction after the launch of the Urban Cruiser Taisor.
