Re: Honda Elevate Review

Updates at 5500 km on the odometer:
  • Got the infotainment firmware upgraded at Dakshin Honda (Hosur Road). Firmware version before update was "01.000.001" and after update it is "01.000.301". The update process was quick and easy. I wish Honda let end users perform the updates by themselves (like it happens for Kia and Hyundai) instead of visiting the service center.
  • As discussed multiple times in this thread, road noise at around 100 kmph is a major let down for the Elevate. I spoke to the service center personnel about this while visiting for the software update. As per him, multiple customers have reported this and Honda is apparently working on a solution. Additional rubber beading around the window edges is one of the potential solutions, which should get rid of the wind noise. Apparently, customers would be informed once the solution is available and we can get it retrofitted at a Honda service center. Of course, I took this story with a big pinch of salt.
  • Speed sensitive music volume adjustment feature does not work effectively. I end up fiddling with the volume every time I enter and exit the highway.
  • Lack of a play/pause button on the steering wheel is sorely missed. I have to reach out to the infotainment screen to play/pause music. This becomes an unsafe distraction.
  • I have never used the wireless charging pad to this day, except for testing it on the first day. My Pixel 7 Pro gets hot with wireless charging and keeping it switched on for a long road trip would definitely destroy the phone's battery. Wired solution makes more sense.
  • The PPF is turning out to be a good investment. I have spotted multiple rock chips, bird poops and insect impacts on the front facia - whose damages were taken up by the PPF thereby saving the underlying paint.
  • My front judgement while parking has improved but I am still not 100% confident while doing it. I tend to leave a larger gap than necessary. This is where front parking sensors are sorely missed.
  • The Skyshop TPMS accessory has started misbehaving. The display unit no longer charges via the cable. Spoke to their support and I was asked to send over the unit via post.
  • I have turned off the left lane change camera. I was making a habit of looking at the screen instead of the left mirror, while making a left turn.
  • The ventilated seat accessory from Riggear is turning out to be the most useful car accessory. However, switching it on/off is a bit finicky. I need to press it at certain angles for the button to work. Ventilated seats have now become my top recommended feature to friends researching for a new car purchase.
  • The engine is plenty powerful. It has sufficient grunt for a quick overtake on single lane highways. However, the overtake needs to be timed, since the CVT takes a split second more than expected to catch up. This can be quickly mitigated by downshifting using the paddle shifters (while in D mode). All this comes with an earful of iVTEC music, courtesy of the poor sound insulation.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

Hello folks
1. Is it possible to add rear middle seat headrest in the non R model?
2. Which tpms system is good to install which also doesn’t spoil the neat and clean look of the cabin? Can this system be integrated with the Honda connect app?

Re: Honda Elevate Review

Hello, I needed a bit of help. We have booked a Honda Elevate from a dealer in Kolkata. Since it is the R model, we are not getting 65000 benefits on offer. Shall I change my booking to the Non-R model if the manufacturing year is between May and June?

Do try with a different dealers on possible discounts. Not sure which variant you are booking. Go for the R variant if you are looking at SV / V / VX - you get additional headrest and 6 airbags as standard.

Even I want to know about this + how to add 3 point seatbelt for middle seat.

During a 5hr drive, my Android Auto disconnects 3 or more times and each time it takes different amount of fiddling to get it working but it almost never reconnects automatically. Sometimes, just touching on the navigation button (even when it is disabled) is all I need to do, but other times, I have to fiddle with the BT settings or reboot the infotainment system. Is this update like a firmware update for the Infotainment system?

Last week I noticed another annoying issue. For the first time, I had my phone connected to navigation via USB (instead of BT) and noticed that almost every time I honked, the Infotainment system reset causing a navigation and audio to disconnect and then automatically reconnect in a few seconds and then I would have to start playing the audio again manually. This was very annoying. Has anyone seen this issue?

So please don’t compromise on this. You can remove other less important accessories like step illumination, but not the dash cams.

2) Good quality and reliable dash cams are very much important. As far as I know, VIFO and Wolfbox are very good brands in those aspects. I got VIFO A229 plus at INR 23999/-. I am not saying other brands are bad. Just that I have more confidence in VIFO (or even wolfbox) when it comes to reliability and good video capturing ability (capturing the number plate of the other vehicle during the night time). We have a dedicated TBHP thread on dash cams and you can read the posts for more details/divergent views.

3) Do Dashcam wiring mess up the wiring inside the cabin ?. No. The installer will route the wires through the panels without exposing them. So there is no impact on the cabin aesthetics.

4) Who does the dash cam installation ?. Any reputed car accessories shop or a good workshop in your location will do the job. Some times the seller gives you a list of recommended installers at your city/town.

5) On the front parking camera - I haven’t done it and so I don’t have an idea. Hope someone in the TBHP community guides you on this.
Brother I guess I saw the Pro's and Con's of the dash cam and I'm going for one..

Just an update, my delivery was expected for 19th, so on 17th I arranged for a PDI with Zekado.

The guy saved me, there was a minor dent on the bonnet, and some other minor scratches (car is manufactured feb 2024 - got a ~1.5L discount as this was non-R model)

These dents / minor scratches honestly was not visible at all to me, but to everyone else including the dealer lol

Honda is changing the bonnet officially, they have ordered one from the factory itself, pre-painted so no worries of paint not matching

My delivery is now on 23rd - I was thinking of going for the Viofo A229 Plus, do u recommend this? Where can I buy it from?

The official website? or Amazon India?

Also, is it better than the 70mai A810, even after the A810 having 4k front and being cheaper?

So finally, I spent this on the car and just wondering if i overpaid lol

18.4 for the car itself, top model, non-r model, feb 2024 manufactured (including everything, insurance, 0 dep, ext warranty, RTI, tax etc)

26k for all the chrome around the car

6k for anti rust

8k for step illumination

1.8k for the car cover

3k for the rear window curtains

25k for the dash cam (Viofo A229 Plus, if this is indeed good)

30k for Ceramic coating with 2 touchups from Ceramic Pro South Mumbai (is this good? I just saw videos on youtube from Motoroctane and approached them) - Honda dealer is offering it in 22k, with 2 touchups

Regarding Dashcam I would suggest you to purchase it from any shop who can as well install it for you since cost would be more or less same.

About accessories and its more of personal choice, I had as well gone ahead with step illumination for my car and l like it.

Ceramic coating would not give any protection from minor scratches and it would temporarily enhance the look, instead of this why don't you check for PPF? - Cost would be higher but you would get better protection and finish.

Congratulations on the new car!

I have the Viofo A229 plus on my City and I can say it is quite good. I had a minor accident where an on oncoming squid hit my car ,broke the rear view mirror and sped off , both the cameras captured sufficient details about him. However the bike purposefully seemed to miss regn plates and so we couldn't raise any police complaint.

I bought through their official website and the best part is their technical support is very prompt and friendly.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

I guess have to scrap out the idea of Dash Cam...

I spoke to my official dealer (Viva Honda) and he said installing any dash camera except the genuine one (Philipps) will void the warranty.

I don't understand how this makes sense, as Viva Honda themselves offer Qubo Dashcam which is not a genuine Honda accessory itself.

I also mentioned, that I would be using the cigarette lighter socket and not messing with any wires, to which they didn't seem to care.

Extremely weird on the part of Honda, and a major put off tbh.

Also, I wrote to the provided email to Honda, but they transferred it to the dealer and let them deal with it?

I got the vifo dashcam from the official store.
https://viofo.in/

The official store has a whatsup contact as well for addressing any of your concerns or queries.

I went with Vifo for the reason that they have good after sales support and one of the most trusted brands when it comes to reliability. 70mai is also popular and value for money, but I am not fully aware of its overall reliability.

As others suggested, having any other accessories is of your personal choice. In my case, except for the Front fender garnish, I did not opt for any accessory which was meant for aesthetic purpose. I got bare minumum accessories like mud guard and floor mats.

That is bunch of crap by Viva Honda that warranty will be void. Maybe a hardwired dashcam could void the warranty but one fixed in the cigarette lighter will void nothing but their attempt to fleece you into buying a camera from them. Why is the accessory socket provided by Honda? You are free to use any compatible accessory. Always loop in honda car India in mails marked to the dealers.

Hi Sumeet, I initially mailed to Honda Car India itself, they have transferred to Viva Honda (my dealer) but Honda Car India is in loop (the customer_relations is their official email)

Don't know who else to mail / reach out to cause it feels more of a scam by Viva Honda to install a camera by them provided by them.

Qubo camera, not an official camera accessory was been sold to me earlier by the same dealer - how was that not a problem?

If you could help me with any email I can reach out to regarding the same, would be great

Hello,

A decade ago I was a Honda customer and I had mailed below for escalation against Solitaire Honda. I think most of these people must have left Honda as this was sent in 2012 so kindly send a separate email and see if anyone responds. Please add @hondacarindia.com after every name, posting it like this so that spam bots do not misuse the email ids.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

I bought my Honda Elevate ZX Manual in end Mar 24. I've done about 2500 km so far - all city driving in Delhi. There is a weekend trip early morning to Noida from Delhi in mostly empty roads but rest is city driving with traffic and AC on all the time. I am getting 12.5 to 13 km/lt. Accessories etc and looks are personal likes and dislikes. Obviously I was happy so I bought it. I am also happy not to have too many fidgety electronics in the car as this can only reduce the reliability. Even luxury cars have problem with accessories especially electronics and sensors. Haven't yet used the sunroof nor any passenger has asked for it to be opened especially in this hot and humid weather. I guess it is mostly a feature that those with young kids may want to entertain them. Though frankly there is no use case of having kids sticking their heads out of the sunroof. The one thing I do miss is cooled seats. I don't think the cooled seat is really a good thing as an accessory. It should be part of the seats. Frankly wireless charging in cars is overrated as a feature. You can easily keep a short cable and keep the phone plugged in - it provides Android Auto and also gets charged. Unless you have a really top class wireless charger it will heat up the phone. Someone suggested that the charger should be cooled but that is not going to cool the phone.

All in all so far it is the standard Honda package - reliable and eminently usable. The door rubber seals and window rattling when half down are familiar problems from the Honda City 2nd and 3rd generations which I possessed.

Re: Honda Elevate Review

I am planning to buy Honda elevate ZX CVT car. Dealer is asking me not to buy the service package . As per him , regular service for the next 3 years will not cost more than 10k. Can someone help me understand the maths here- what’s the expected service cost for Honda elevate CVT for the first 3 years. Service package cost is around 20k
