Honda Elevate Review
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/official-new-car-reviews/268661-honda-elevate-review-43.html)
Checked out the Elevate. Place: Garve Honda, Chinchwad. Time: 5.30PM on Friday 1st Sep.
The place was absolutely deserted. There was one Amaze and 1 elevate model (decorated in well demarcated box). There were 1 reception girl and 1 SA, but they don't bother me with any conversation, Which anyway i was not interested for at that time. I went there in my 2013 (Gen 3) Honda city V MT, so this was my reference of comparison with Elevate.
Coming to car:
Pros:
- Good presence (Better than i expected), Nice stance of the hood and head lights
- Interior is nicely built and looked better in person. Color scheme is quite good.
- I could easily find my comfortable driving position, Seat has good range of height adjustment+ steering adjustment helped
- Nice deep pockets at door side, Storage below arm rest is quite usable
- Rear seat legroom and headroom is quite good.
- Seats are comfortable all along
- Car looks bigger from back side
- Very practical boot space
Cons:
- The engine compartment sheet metal looks quite naked (look picture)
- Multiple layers of plastics in dashboard. I could see 7-8 variants of plastics. quite distracting. Although the quality seems reasonable.
- Seat width at back is not too generous. Rear seat is best for 2 adults. 3 would be certainly very tight.
- Small Sunroof (Many like panoramic these days)
- No Height adjustment seat belts
- No dead pedal for driver
- No ventilated seats
Orange car at the showroom. The color seems to changing with the different throw of lights (sometimes look red'ish, sometimes faint golden maroon).
The engine compartments looks quite similar to my Honda city, well packaged and having generous space all around to work on repairs (although i never needed that in my city).
The sheet metal around the engine compartments looks quite naked in comparison to my Honda city.
Nicely build interior, although not very extravagantly flashy but would age well.
Driving position wrt my city (I am 5,11). Quite comfortable in both the cars.
Feet space below steering wheel at my driving position. My feet did not touch anywhere in both cars.
Rear seat legroom is generous in elevate.
Different shades of plastic used. Although quality is acceptable to me.
Picture from rear door. Car looked big as compared to my city.
Comes with printed user manual. Thanks Honda.
Overall came quite impressed after seeing so many negative comments here. The car in person looked quite different and the feel of interior is better than seeing that in image. Overall I feel Honda has a winner in hand if prices well. My booking is still on.
A few points from all the user comments:
1. The only real problem looks to be seating for larger adults. This is a genuine gripe.
2. Any comparison with Brezza etc.., I take it with bucket loads of salt. One really can't be serious. Having experienced 5th Gen Honda City and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, I can only say the latter's perceived quality, and touch and feel is a notch if not two, below the City. And from what I read, Elevate's quality is almost there up with 5th Gen City.
3. People complaining about features or the lack of it, seem to be ignoring functional stuff like split rear seats, ACC, Keyless Entry etc., which are available from V variant itself. Even the SV looks decent.
Two things remain - Price Reveal, and Customer's reaction involving their money. Let's see!
When is Honda going to reveal the price list for the Elevate? IMHO, they should do it sooner rather than later - lest the Elevate gradually fades aways from everyone's memory.
On the Honda website, it seems like they have already revealed the price of the Elevate. Starts at Rs. 10,99,900 (see attached picture). In my opinion this seems like a really good starting point for them to get back in the SUV game!

Price is not aggressive. At base model SV, you can get Brezza ZX which is fully loaded including alloys, infotainment, rear camera, sunroof and 4 star rated. Both are 4 seater, though leg room is better in Elevate.

Honda's gone crazy. Only the SV and V versions are priced lower than City. The VX and ZX versions are infact 7k-10k pricier than the corresponding versions of City. This is a failure when Elevate has lesser no. of features than City. If we take VX of Elevate, it doesn't have ADAS and still priced 7k more than City VX.
It is priced a notch below the City. Ex-Showroom on AutoCar is as follows:
SV: Rs. 11L
V: Rs. 12.11L
V CVT: Rs. 13.21L
VX: Rs. 13.50L
VX CVT: Rs. 14.60L
ZX: Rs. 14.90L
ZX CVT: Rs. 16L
Pricing looks the part compared to the differences from City. Interesting to see how the market responds.
I expected a aggressive pricing , but price is inline in Seltos Pricing . Between Seltos and Elevate , I feel Seltos is better equipped . I just placed a cancellation request for elevate.
I personally believe that Elevate will target the likes of Brezza, Nexon, Venue, Sonet, XUV300, etc. and in this segment, Elevate seems overpriced on paper. The top and mid variants of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Kushaq, Taigun, etc. are superior to Elevate in all categories. I don't think Elevate will be able to generate much volume, but since Honda is already way profitable in India, they won't mind fewer volumes. With 18-19L OTR price, it will be interesting to see why would anyone choose Elevate over Creta, Seltos, Kushaq, Taigun, or even Hybrid options like Hyryder, and Grand Vitara which give 20km/l+ FE.
