Yesterday, while traveling from Mumbai to Pune, I came across a test car. I thought it was a kylaq. If so, then why is it still being camouflaged?

Doesn't look like camo, looks more like paint protection covers used during transit to a dealer stockyard.

Skoda will start offering test drives only from January 27, 2025, onwards. And that is also when deliveries will start.

Not very confidence inspiring figures. Seems like the sentiments are true that Skoda has priced this car a bit optimistically, especially the top variants, which garner maximum profits.

How stupid of Skoda! They’ve launched the car already. People have booked even. Why are they waiting so long to start the test drives?

There will be a radio silence of almost 2 months since the price reveal until TD / deliveries. They should ensure that they’re in the news until the deliveries start.

Just start the TD’s and let people get to see and feel the car up close.

27th January is more than 1 month away. If Kylaq production has started, then Skoda should ship some units to dealership to display in showroom for people to feel the car and provide test drive car also as soon as possible.

Looks like Skoda is following footsteps of Tata Curvv launch. All hype and interest created with the launch will fade away, due to this long 1.5 month of delay between launch and actual test drives.

I admire Mahindra car launch planning. Mahindra launches their new cars, new cars are available for media test drives, showroom display cars arrive in couple of days after launch, test drive cars are available before bookings open, finally bookings open and then Mahindra has a good backlog of orders to fulfill.

Order fulfillment and delivery is completely different story for Mahindra, where there is no visibility to the customer on what is going with their booking and delivery.

I think we (including me) are being too optimistic about the sales figures for Kylaq. Probably because Skoda is claiming 100K annual sales figures.

I believe even if they sell 50-60% of those figures they'd be happy.

That is a good start but SKODA is to blame for just taking the steam out of all the campaign. I was seriously thinking about this car and now I almost forgot about it. Why not do the media drives and offer people test drive vehicles to keep up the momentum. People quickly lose interest in this dynamic car industry where every now and then new car launches are taking place, that too now with "5 star ratings".

SKODA KYLAQ STILL IN CAMOUFLAGE?

Spotted this while waiting on the outer ring road, in front of Ecospace, in Bangalore.


Was quite surprised to see the Skoda Kylaq still in camo. Aren't display models not available in the showrooms yet?

On another note, size is within the ranges of a compact SUV. It is definitely a size smaller than the Exter / Fronx with stance similar to that of the Punch.

They're completely different segments and not to mention ICE vs EV. Bookings are modest because of Skoda's optimistic pricing.

Deliveries for the Skoda Kylaq are slated to commence from January 27, 2025.

Skoda to produce 33,000 units of the Kylaq in first batch
First batch of deliveries to complete by May 2025
Bookings of Kylaq Classic variant is around 3,000 units

The Kylaq Classic is an entry version.
The Kylaq Classic can only be had with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It comes decently equipped with features like LED headlamps, 16-inch steel wheels, six airbags, adjustable headrests, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, powered wing mirrors, manual AC, a front centre armrest, and two tweeters, among others. This variant does miss out on a touchscreen infotainment system, which is something even its rivals miss out on.

10,000 bookings in 10 days is actually a pretty good figure, especially for a Skoda

But, what remains to be seen is how many of these bookings ACTUALLY convert into a delivery. Because, as I see it, many who have booked this car (even on this forum) seem to be on a fence whether to buy this car or not, thanks to its pricing.

Just got a message on WhatsApp from Skoda India informing about the 10000 bookings and saying that the classic variant is now SOLD OUT. It says that other variants will still be available. This is just greedy behaviour from Skoda.
