I test drove the Swift AMT, which has the same Z12 engine. The car picked up to 40 kmph in no time and with a little more tap, reached 60. But, that AMT kick feeling when shifting between gears, especially between 2nd and 3rd gear is still more pronounced as like the previous gen Swift/Dzire cars. In stop-and-go traffic, it was not comfortable. I know that's how AMTs work, but I thought Maruti would have done more fine tuning of how AMT behaves, but seems not to be.

The local launch of the 2024 DZire was conducted earlier in the evening today by the Sky Automobiles dealership. I was invited as a honorary Chief Guest for the unveiling. The Senior Manager Shri Dhananjay knows about my Team-BHP connection so I was honoured to be representing our forum at such a big local event, which will be highlighted in all social media and regional news channels tomorrow (or the day after).

The unveiling was completed in the presence of many esteemed bank and government officials, media personnel, new and existing customers and the entire staff of the Sky dealership who had turned up in large numbers to be a part of the inauguration. Amidst bursting of confetti, crackers, loud clapping and excited celebrations, the 2024 DZire made it's local bow.














My Silver DZire had also been unloaded from the delivery truck earlier today. It found a special place on the center floor under the spotlights, and was duly unveiled by me as well.





My little one remarked that the new Silver shade reminded her of the original Bond car, the Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger! For me, I cannot shake the VW/Audi vibe every time I see the DZire from the side. This one is a looker, and how!

If all goes well with the local RTO and other formalities, our DZire should be home tomorrow evening or (at most) by Wednesday.

The dealership is scheduled to receive 50 cars before the month ends, so it's safe to assume that the DZire is poised to be yet another blockbuster launch from Maruti-Suzuki.

I would not have touched an AMT car with a barge pole even last year, but looking at my 2024 Swift performance based on city driving needs, I have made peace with it because it does the job well enough without a significant head nod ( the degree of which is subjective I guess) , with fuel efficiency thrown in for good measure. Yes, one can always opt for the C3 with its turbo petrol, but then you dont get everything in one car do you?

Congratulations on being an owner of the Maruti car with a new image. I am a diehard fan of Mahindra and Toyota but finally shifted to Maruti club with Jimny. I am glad that Maruti Dzire with 5 star rating will get the new image of the brand wrt safety. Good mileage due to new engine, 5 star rating for safety, very competitive price, top notch service across India, great looks in one car is rare as in new Dzire.

The Dzire Z series engine will be more fuel efficient on a regular basis, precisely because of the AMT. CVT negates this while providing a smoother transmission experience (again, subjective). On the other hand, rolling acceleration will cause a rubber band effect that is even more pronounced than the AMT.

Not only that, Maruti's AMT manual mode is fun. The car will come to the lowest gear during braking and wont shift up till you jab the stick.

If memory serves me right, in the Fronx the rear seats alarm is not weight based but seat belt based. One of the reviewers of Dezire mentioned it's seat belt based, hence the question.

Can someone confirm this. Maybe will check it out when I go to see the Dezire.

Took delivery of our 2024 DZire ZXI+ AGS earlier in the afternoon today. The local RTO was having a few problems during the registration process but it was all completed smoothly in the end.

I am told by my Sky Arena dealership that mine is the first 2024 DZire in the entire Bastar district under Maruti-Suzuki. Certainly the first in my city of Jagdalpur.

Opted for Extended Warranty (3+3 or 1,60,000 kms), Customer Convenience Package (Platinum Fuel 2 years), MGA underbody Anti-Rust package, cashless insurance (1+3) with Zero-Dep & Return To Invoice add-ons, and a choice number.

Total OTR came to 11.91L, all-inclusive.











First impressions - Maruti Suzuki engineers have really impressed by the way they have fine-tuned this Z-series block under the DZire's hood. Only at crankup will you have a feel that it's a 3-pot with a slightly noisy startup, but after a few seconds when the engine quietens and settles down to idling, any sound or vibration is hardly felt inside the cabin. From standstill, the DZire tees off quite smoothly in D-mode and upshifts easily, reaching cruising speeds in a sedate, relaxed manner. The AMT box has improved by leaps and bounds over the earlier Maruti AMTs, and is now easily as good as the Hyundais. Shifts are definitely felt, though not as pronounced or as prominently as earlier Marutis or present-gen Tatas. I would say it's at par with our Nios AMT's shifts.

Ride quality is good, although it could have been better with 195-section 16-inchers. Someone with higher running is recommended to upsize all tyres to 195/55/R16, else for regular, everyday commuting duties the 185s will do just fine. The suspension is quite pliant and during my ride home, I passed over a few rough patches but the DZire didn't scrape anywhere and neither did it bottom out. The engine is remarkably silent at 40-60ish speeds - a pleasant surprise and visible proof of the giant strides in advancements the contemporary 3-cylinder engine has seen by team Maruti-Suzuki.

More on the 2024 DZire in the days to come, as man and machine live together and get to know each other more.

It is seat-belt based in the DZire. But there are no annoying beeps when the car is in motion - just icons flashing in the speedo as reminders that the seats are unbuckled.

I enquired pricing in Bangalore.
On road for ZXI+ AGS is coming around 13L.
As it's 10.14 ex-showroom, road tax is different compared to the ones just below 10.
Had they priced 9.99 L, it would save 30 to 40k easily.

In 13.1 L, they included 1+3 insurance 42k, extended warranty 23.5k, basic accessories worth 12k MC) 11k.
