It's a bit disappointing that there's only one variant available in Diesel automatic.

Re: 2025 Kia Carens Clavis Review

Just saw the Clavis at Khanna Kia, Kanpur. Although, they were closing, they courteously let my wife and I checkout the car. Alone, we had a good look.

The new design is just fantastic. Really good.
From the driver's seat you can now properly see the bonet, edge to edge. Super nice.

The new screen setup looks modern but I kinda liked the old setup, the digital screen, which they had launched later on in Luxury Plus variant. Not the analog screen they had before. But it's workable.

The car I saw was a turbo-petrol manual top model with Panoramic Sunroof in 7 seater guise.
Whitish interiors looked up market. Premium.
Ventilated seats worked well.

Overall, the car looks really nice. SUVish touch is there.
It's more handsome now. Ivory Silver Gloss. Good colour.

I wonder why Kia used 215/55 R17 tires and not 215/60 R17. That slight bit of extra comfort is always more desirable.

Serious misses:
No Diesel Top Model with Adaptive Cruise Control.
No rear seat ventilation. Syros has it.
No electric tail gate. In a people mover. Come on.

Disappointing:
There was a weird sound from the driver's side door while shutting it. That thud wasn't there. The window was all the way down. Realised it was the glass touching the body which made the sound. Not cool. So tried again. Sound disappeared when window was even slightly up. The thud returned. 5 star or not.

That air purifier! This was the time to fire that engineer and hire a new one. It's placement is.

Conclusion:
Still, I think this is Kia's XUV7OO moment!
If they catch it well. They can sell.

Add those missing variants Kia.

Re: 2025 Kia Carens Clavis Review

Is there any change to body structure and improvements in safety structurally like what Hyundai did when it launched the New-gen creta. Or it only make up and adding of electronic gizmos to keep people happy without addressing the real safety aspect.

Re: 2025 Kia Carens Clavis Review

Fantastic review, but one question- How does the ride quality compare to a Renault Duster and the Fit and Finish + Build Quality + NVH control to a modern mass-market German (i.e Skoda-VW 2.0 Cars).

Edit: Kia omit the perfume hanging clip from the Regular Carens. (Was a small hole in the fake part of the passenger-side of the continuous A/C vent.

Re: 2025 Kia Carens Clavis Review

Kia has worked a lot on Carens Clavis, exteriors & interiors now feel wow in the league of Seltos and Sonet. This will definitely result in a sales boost. The only thing I feel weird is the diesel AT, is offered only in the mid variant.

Re: 2025 Kia Carens Clavis Review

As a 1st gen Carens owner, I must the Carens ticks all the boxes for a family car!

Before purchasing Carens, I checked out XUV700, Safari, MG Hector (you sit with your knees to the chest almost) and compared to all of them the 3rd row seating in Carens was the most comfortable. With the ability to slide the middle row seats one can get good leg room combined with the 3rd row seats back incline adjustment and a individual AC vent and phone charger point, one can get a really comfortable seats even on long journey.

With the addition of new features in Clavis, am sure Kia will have more takers. Personally, I love the fact that they got rid of that Piano black dashboard

Re: 2025 Kia Carens Clavis Review

Great review as usual. Great car in almost all aspects, but this is more like an Ertiga - XL6 pairing rather than trying to target Alcazar buyers. To be honest very little practical distinction between those two and yet Alcazar looks and feels more premium. Is that a deliberate differentiation or accidental, but yes this seems more like an XL6 competitor.

Re: 2025 Kia Carens Clavis Review

They didn't use the new screen and the software they introduced on the Syros sadly. That means we still don't have wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on the top trims with the bigger screens.

Kia removed the most sensible option : 1.5 NA with CVT, customer will have to buy less reliable and more fuel guzzler DCT with Turbo if he only needs an automatic.

On the other hand govt is pressurizing customers to not opt for the Diesel, Kia too has only one variant in D AT, pathetic distribution of variants.

Re: 2025 Kia Carens Clavis Review

We own 1.5 NA Carens prestige variant. Have travelled about 17k KM so far in 2.5 years. Amazing vehicle. Looking forward to check out the newer one. But one question. Did Kia remove the cup holder near the passenger side AC vent and the coin holder on driver side ?

Looks like the short end of the stick as per the image from their official website.

More than that, they removed the cupholder in front of the AC vent for the front passsenger as well as a nifty storage space above the AC vent in the driver side. Maybe a result of some stupid customer clinic finding that owners were not aware of such features let alone use them. Straight to the cost cutting chopping board.

Least they could do with the new design language dashboard was to give a storage shelf like space in the dashboard like the Syros instead of a useless concave surface

Kia screwed big time in their diesel auto variant spread, both for Carens and Syros. Only the Sonet seems to have two variants of diesel auto. They really do want to limit the diesel-auto sales, either due to some profit issues or regulation issues.

Re: 2025 Kia Carens Clavis Review

Most confusing part for me is why they have not discontinued the current Carens, since only 1.5 NA will be available.

My main question is who willl buy now? Cabies won't be interested in Old Carens, as they will prefer Clavis HTE with CRDI and 6MT.

For private buyers who prefer Petrol, Clavis HTE 1.5 NA or HTE(O) Turbo (T-Gdi) makes more sense.

Another question is if We visit any KIA showroom today, there are plenty of manual Carens (some MY 2024 also) are still available, so why there are more manual variants in Clavis ?

A bit off topic (non carens but relevant) - Space flexibility was the very reason for me to go for an Ertiga. Fold down the middle and last rows and you can carry a house in it. I use it as a 5 seater 90% of the time. The last row comes in handy when it is used as a people transporter during family functions.

It will depend whether Kia has registered the Clavis in Vaahan as a yellow plate vehicle. If so cabbies will prefer the base diesel manual else the Carens.
