Re: Classics being restored in India

The white wall tires look great!
The rest, a rust bucket if I ever saw one!
Only in India would any one consider restoring such a car.

Look forward to following your progress and will give a heads up to many of my Old Car Buff friends back home in Toronto. Will blow their minds!

Wonderful that you are saving this car. Fortunately these days we have access to information and parts which makes life easier.

The blue car next to Buick is the PE, I guess. Seems that the body is work is completed. When do you plan to mount the engine? Once you complete the car please send me pictures of the PE. I am currently posting in the Plymouth Owners Club site on Plymouth's spotted in India. Not come across another PE in India.

Cheers

Captain Chauhan,

Sir the work has come out top notch. What are the remaining bits of the car left to be done ?

Some pictures of the Packard that you picked up last year and were restoring ?

P.S. - Mr. Sujoy Gupta said to say Hi to you and give you his regards.

Dear Captain, If I may say so sir you are truly a "Jeweller of Junk" kudos to you for repeatedly taking up such daring projects and converting them into Jewels. I am sure she will come up superb. It is my dream to own a Buick 8 someday.

What is the history of the car did you purchase it in some auction. How is the Singer coming along? regards Amol

Re: PICS: Citroen Traction Avant cars in India

Wreck to riches. Was the car ever lifted by a crane, there is lots of damage to the roof.

Cheers harit

Re: Buick Super 8 - Restoration

Thank you all , for the kind words. I have to work within my budget, source my cars at the right price and then trust my staff to work wonders.

The Buick was a Delhi reject, picked up about 5 years back. The basic tin work should be over in a month, after which will work on the chassis .

Hello KPS , am working on the PE pistons expect to complete the car next month. Will detail the restoration with photographs in due course.

Amol , body work on the Singer completed , have to remove the body , grit blast the chassis and work on the mechanicals - all in due course after the Buick.

The Packard lined up for upholstery work , but my upholsterer has vanished.

Regards
Chauhan

Re: Buick Super 8 - Restoration

Thats a brave project you undertook sir, eagerly waiting for updates and a ride in it once complete.
Thanks for sharing the WIP pictures . I presume Kaazim bhai and his team is working on this Buick. Hats off to them for such an amazing craftsmanship.
I am amazed to see how that floor panel turned out from none to one (piece)
PS: I have lost your contact no, please PM me the same, though a bit busy these days but will contact you soon.

Probably because they are still fewer/rarer here than in NA?

But even here, this is one car that I'm sure many would have rejected/avoided straightaway as a 'written-off' case!

I've had a fascination for the Buick 8s. They were quite popular cars here. I'm sure this car will turn out to be a stunner.

Do you know in and around Hyderabad you will find more than 8 to 10 of these cars lying in deplorable conditions awaiting rescue. Are you interested in getting one ????

On impulse yes, albeit not at the prices that would be quoted for any of them these days which would be irrespective of the condition!

No space either I'm afraid! Our current apartment parking lot doesnt entirely do justice even to my Herald! :(
