I came across this neat page which decodes TRIPLEX glass to somewhat guess the age of your car

http://www.morrisminorforum.com/arti...date-code.html

I must try this once I'm back home.

Are the tail light lens on your car the kind which you find on Hindusthan 14 and Austin A40?

Re: '52 Morris Minor - A restoration dream

Hi Srinad, any updates on your restoration? I came across this thread today and immediately went back so many years, to the time my dad had bought our 1950 MM 2-door, low light model, in around 1967-68. He had got it off his brother-in-law, who himself had bought it second-hand.
We lived in Pune then and this car stayed with us until the mid ‘90s, until it became too difficult to maintain her due to difficulties in getting spares, when my dad sadly parted with her, to the very mechanic who maintained her. This mechanic was a Christian and promised to look after her and only take her out to Church on Sundays with his family.
I still have fond memories of this car, doing duty without fail for almost 30 years for my parents, myself and our two dogs (we have almost always had two canines in our family). Perhaps it’s still running on Pune’s roads. I’ll check with my dad, if he sees it any more.
Pune BHPians, if any of you see a chocolate brown MM 2-door, low light model, numbered MHJ 9920, that would be her. I’m betting he wouldn’t have repainted her, as the paintwork was very good, as I remember and Pune's climate isn't at all like Mumbai's.
Cheers.

Have put up a note here, hopefully someday she will turn up.

Having grown up in Pune and keeping a keen eye on older cars I can't say I remember seeing the car ever. I do distinctly recall regularly seeing a black lowlight Minor, but BRT registered.

Incidentally here is another MHJ 99xx Minor, but a later saloon

Hi FarPatel,

Thanks for your post, your memories are not too different from mine, there was a Morris minor low light, 2 door. Few dogs. Dads who wanted a nice affordable run about!

My car has been restored to run, although still doing a few small things here and there. I did do a drive with a couple of friends from Bangalore to Goa last December. Hope to do more in time to come. If you are looking for your car, i hope you find it.

regards,

Srinand.
