and....All the Selects and Superselects incl. some Imported Delight variants (MRY 9501) too had a similar RED RIBBON operation mostly caliberated in Kilometers just like the one Ajay99 has pictured.:)

Very correct. I remember, when we bought 3112, it had that speedometer, in working condition. And it was indeed a delight seeing the red strip move. The light in the background though, was sooo dim, that you could barely see it at night.

Some Select style meters also came caliberated in miles. I think my 1960 car has it. The main difference in 56-57 meters was the large rectangular dynamo light and absence of temp guage. Small design cues differed. Shall post pictures later.

stupid:I did not get the opportunity to tell him that, because today when I contacted him, he said it was already sold for Rs.1200/-.obviously somebody who wanted to replace a padmini meter with the original type bought it (for your info, 8 out of 10 pre69 fiats that still exist in kerala are having padmini meters in them).
Cyrus, this is not MUMBAI ,the motherland of fiat taxis.Actually kerala did not have even a single fiat taxi/tourist taxi since 1980!!!here people favoured the ambassadors, and trekkers.
You get ambassador mark1 and 2 parts cheaper down here, certainly not old fiat parts. By the way one of my friends is looking for an NOS/used WEBER carburretor and aluminium fiat logo wheel caps for his MILLICENTO. ready to pay Premium price .

Arrey, Amol, how could you? After all the experts have told us above that the Elegant meter was in MPH! And a few other things as well, but this should be the first eliminiation point, I guess. Hope I still get that book!

These are indeed elegant ones only.

This is the elegant meter for the export version for Europe. That's the reason i never bought this meter when it was offered to me by a parts dealer (in germany),my car has the MPH version i posted the image purely to indicate the difference in design between this and the superselect meter, which is subtle to the untrained eye.

Ofcourse you get the book will mail it to you this weekend, i havent forgotten.:)

Hello JayD,
This is really good paint job.
Generally paintshops dont give that kind of attention to Old classics.:Frustrati

Who did the paint? Was it done in a booth?

A neat Select (?) is spotted here

Spotted a Beautifull Blue and Silver Super Select yesterday. But was unable to take any pictures. If I go back to Buyculla, I shall take some pictures. FYI, It was standing at the petrol pump outside Saboo Siddique college.

APC 1 had it too....I'd bought it off the guy who scrapped it (:deadhorse) and it was whacked off my scooter with a couple of other parts in the same bag the very day!! :Frustrati

I saw the same car. It's metallic green and white, a special like Gogi's. Hugely modded, but lovely body line an an outstanding paint job.
Belongs to Shariq Merchant, the owner of the petrol pump. One owner, 1961.
Actually I drove MRX 6839 there for petrol, the owner came out to see her, and we were both gaping at each other's cars for a while :D. Had a long chat with him... Another Fiat fanatic !
