I was in Hyderabad a few days ago. Many older Ambassadors are still running and are found on the roads. Among those clicked here, some are grounded, while others are moving.

The car looks and is really fantastic. But can't guess on why the wheel discs are painted red.

Spotted in Jaipur

What is the PCD of the Ambassador wheel? Is it the same as that of Gypsy as quite a few ambys are running on gypsy rims?

Came across this ambassador mark 3, i presume, during a recent trip to kolhapur. This one seemed like it was too far gone.

More and better pics..

Spotted this beautiful Landmaster coming out from the Bharat petroleum bunk at Juhu circle:

Some facts about this car and its sighting:
(1) Moralfibre was trailing it and later overtook it and so got so many pictures!:)
(2) This is a Bombay car as all would have concluded by now.
(3) The car like mine does not have semaphore indicators on the "B" pillar.
(4) The car's cranking handle hole on the front bumper is of the later type viz. 1956 or later. Landmasters were made between 1954-57 and 11,600 were manufactured (rather assembled).
(5) The sunshade is a mid 1950's accessory. These were even available for the earliest Ambassadors (1958 onwards) and can be dated as 1954-1958 roughly, if I am right. These could be adjusted for the angle they made with the "A" pillar of the car.The sunshade with a search light would provide the lovely period looks of the 1950's.
(6) Even a traffic police constable is gazing at the beauty - must be a rare sight for him.:)

The two cars are quite original, though it appears some constraints may have compelled the owners to make do with whatever was available.
For instance, for the 1954 (black car) the meters and the meter console are all original. The ignition switch and other switches though are not. The console housing these too is fabricated in the original shape but with much caring for the original shape.
The steering wheel is also borrowed from the Ambassador.
Despite these facts, the owner has tried to keep the originality intact.

The second car below is a 1957 model.
1954 was the start of Landmaster manufacture (assembly) by HM and it ended in 1957 incidentally. This one is much more original. The dash is intact. The "H" logo is missing from the steering though. Even the door (front right door seen here) interior upholstery (upholstery is changed) has the chrome strip. The interior leather upholstery had such horizontal chrome strips on the leather fabric of all four doors.

A new kinda design on the Ambassador. The owner says he has used computer aided designing to lead to this conclusion.
Ingenuity definitely it is !:)
The fit and finish is quite good. Guess HM honchos may take notice seeing these pictures, particularly the front treatment and the interiors.
It is a 1964 model according to the owner.
