Hi SuperSelect,

Srinand.

A small mention on Citroen's fabled suspension too, might not be amiss here!
The first car in the world I think, to have hydraulic suspension!
Amazing!
Citroen developed self-levelling, rising-rate gas over oil hydraulic suspension for its replacement for the Traction Avant, the DS - the 2cv used interconnected coil springs which lie horizontally under each floor, mounted on the chassis. The 2cv's suspension is setup for the poor French roads of the 1940s and 50s with long travel and soft springs - the comfort, toughness and longevity of these cars is legendary.

The hydraulic suspension was used under licence by Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Benz (for its estate cars and coupes) - my W124 300TD has a Citroen hydraulic rear suspension. Many agricultural vehicles also use it, most notably the JCB Fastrack.
