Kuttapa, could you tell us more about that front drum? I've never seen one opened..how does the brake shoe act on the conical surface? Just curious
The front drum is unique in appearance, but a dog to get working right(inspite of being a TLS) and no, the brake pads do not act on the conical surface. You would be surprised to see a conventional setup inside, the outside is only for appearance and to give a larger dia brake drum. When set right, it works, but mostly it is like riding a bike without functional front brakes. Scary !!

@Tuffryder - I am in US at the moment, and I have no idea if I have the monograms with me or not. If I find it anytime, I will let u know. The silver bike is Shantanu's of course.

@Kuttapan: Thanks a lot. If I can ask, will u be in India anytime this year?

One more question to all you'l guys. I see most of the guys buff the engine covers. Im restoring a 61 Jawa and I want the original silver/aluminum finish on it. I forgot the techical term they use for that kind of coating. From what I heard, they don't do that type anymore. Any idea what that term would be and where can i get that done in Bangalore or Mysore?

Powder Coating? Electro Plating? Or just aluminium paint?

I have no idea of my plans, bro - such is the absurdity of the current economic situation.

In those days we used to get the Aluminium Alloy Engine parts and the Wheel Hubs polished to a mirror finish and give a laquor coating to seal in the shine. Bullets also were treated in the same way.
