You guys in Mumbai, Pune etc are like God fathers for us in Bangalore!! We will need your constant help in maintaining our Fiats.

This President is still very well maintained and is kept in covered parking space which is most important in maintaining a Fiat i guess.

President.

Reminds me of a lovely President we all missed narrowly, in Mumbai's CST road. (featured on this forum long ago) Very original, she had the rare etched boot logo. She finally got scrapped.

Oh yes we did ! But unfortunately the scrapper had bought her from Pune (probably at a ridiculous price) and was making really exhorbitant demands the minute he saw our interest. The problem is that these guys make really good money from the parts sold to Mumbai's Cabbies, so they don't really care for customers like us ..

No man.. sorry. I later heard from the guy that she indeed got scrapped (for parts). A sad day.

Actually I think it's one of those stories where the owner passed away, his family is not interested in keeping the old car, so here goes this broker or scrapwala and cons them into selling the car to him and so on...!

Indeed!

But that's the irony- when people like us go and ask for such cars, we are turned away with the reply that the owner doesn't want to part with it, and so on...only to learn later on that either it ended up being scrapped or was given away (in some cases literally!) to some undeserving person who doesn't realize it's value nor is interested in maintaining it!

I'd posted one such personal experience of mine with a Standard Pennant in the standard cars thread recently:

I totally agree with you Shyam, a few years ago an all original millicento, run ning but rusting was not sold to me and was later sold to a gentelmen who changed to S1 mechanicals and later traded her for another non original mixed (54, 57, and padmani) car in Hyderabad.

Thanks, the seats appear to be redone I think.

Can you get a clearer and larger shot of the airfilter sticker?
