Manish bhai i hope you remember the DIY i carried out on the delight and President meter 3 months back. The delight one was cracked from 3 locations (link:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-do...urbishing.html )
and the President one is part of the conversion kit. I am in the process of procuring rather digging old stuff in scrap shops and hopefully will get a casing for you. You can see the recent outcome (72 delight meter) of the same.
BTW the select (the one posted by vintageman in classic available thread) with the old meter casing is still there. Will try my luck again.
Updates from Arun1100.
The attention to detail is very commendable i must say. The tinker is doing a good job. You guys seem to be very lucky that you still find running boards and patches as a piece. Here its totally different as fabrication is the only solution which means high costs.:Frustrati I am still figuring out how to get this problem solved as my car is due for restoration. Maybe good pieces from the scrapped car will help.
Please enlighten us on how will the surface and deep rust be tackled and also i can see some melted points in the chassis. What about the inner portion of chassis (inside the pipes). Any treatment at hand.

For the chassis, we intend to procure a good used one or a new one. that will solve the issue. Fiat chassis is closed at the ends, thus we need not worry about inner walls.
For PP the direct fit panels are still available and can be easily procured. As for removing the suface rust, rust removing compounds are available. Deep rust is removed only by grinding and then welding up or replacing the panels.
I thought that the chassis is open at both the ends, atleast in PP they are as per my knowledge. Just a patch is welded to cover them up which melts fast. Anyways, Do you know of any supplier in Northern region, having those PP direct fit panels. My hope to procure the same is dieing out day by day.

My suggestion is that the suspension, brakes , differential, bonnet etc are taken off before the work is started under the car and it is put on its side.

Yes Indrojit that would be the ideal way of doing it, but since tinker is a kM away from my mechanic, transporting the car back would be issue. As for updates, the progress is very slow, but tinkering is in its last legs and in couple of days it should finish.
Once at mechanics place all of the mechanical will be removed and unberbody will be scrapped free of rust.

Thanks to Pawan kadam and his Lathe guy Mohan, my engine head is repaired, next is the reconditioning of other components
One question to all, should i go for dynamic balancing of the crank shaft, is it required. My crankshaft was of standard size now to be regrinded to 1st oversize.
Manish bhai i want to know why is the exhaust valve opening having carbon deposits. Shouldn't they also be clean. I suppose the Fiat engines too follow the ei-ie-ei-ie pattern of valves.
Hi Manish!
Did your tinker finish the job? Did you sit with him for two days?

Well yesterday to my surprise my tinker called upon me and told that the job has been finished (as per him, but lets see whether it is as per my directions or not)
And now with festival + increased work + tour, I think it will be until 13th that any further work will happen. Same will be the case for Engine rebuild.
It's been long time I visited this thread due to several problems to name it 1. internet 2. wrist injury but when I logged in I was curious to know what happened to your car Manish Sir but was very satisfied and happy to see your car shaping up perfectly, I appreciate you perseverance to get this car from what it was to a magic machine. All the very best Manish sir. You all are inspiration to me, I hope I will be able to come up like you one day when restoring my Delite APPU (APU 5674)
Can somebody quote the price to be paid for the Bonnet flute of the Fiat 1100 Select. The foot long chrome strip which is fitted just above the fiat badge on the middle of bonnet. I came to know of this part through a scrapper who states that he has it. So thought of asking fellow fiatians before quoting any price. He also claims to have the select indicator stalk box though he cannot identify whether its working or not.
Two months and no updates! I saw your FIAT along with Pavan yesterday. Why have you neglected the poor Fiat in that way?
Regarding Beetle, do you plan to sell this and buy a Beetle? I am interested in this FIAT. PM me.
