Fiat 1100 Deluxe

A year or so ago this lovely car came up for sale on Ebay in the USA, i had then saved the pics for research purposes. The owner claimed that the interior was original. If true this car serves as a very good reference point for restoration of the deluxe model. ENJOY!

Oh Yeah no points for guessing which pictures were used to restore the Mumbai Car, incidentally no reference was taken for making the interiors.

This is one of a number of photos of the Deluxe in this colour scheme that I have come across but the first one with so many photos, thanks so very much.

I see he doesn't have the chrome emblem on the rear fender, i'll try and track the owner down and see if he wants a set made up for his car. ( for a reasonable price of course) Any idea what this car sold for?

I've been taking a closer look and apart from a few items seems to be a very good restoration. The front seats with the nets at the back look great and the carpet matts do give it a Deluxe Feel.

I'm sure that a number of items I've missed.
1. As mentioned the rear emblems.
2. The front side lights on the chrome trim.
3. The interior follows photos of the Deluxe, but the choice of the vinyl seat colour and pattern feels off to me, would some comments.

Any more information as to it's history or restoration?

Hi John

The owner claimed as I remember it that the car was low mileage, also single owner. The auction at that point was going for above 10,000 dollars. The vinyl I agree is not to my taste either especially the brown dual colour one. But i have seen this kind of Vinyl on cars in India. Also I am not sure whether Fiat offered carpets even on the Deluxe model! Unfortunately this auction ended more than a year ago and I could not find any record on ebay.

Thanks greatly,

Fiat did indeed offer carpets and I read in one of the sales lit that also leather/vinyl seats.

Did you ask me to email you the complete Fiat Instruction Book?
If not just send me your email address.

Very true indeed.I totally agree with Mr Mehul.BTW one thing i mainly see about Fiats is that when they are in their top notch condition only then they are appreciated otherwise the beauty of a rust bucket is only visible to some people like us who are passionate about it I personally, whenever see a fiat/PP running on the road feel happy about the car and its owner although there are very few fiats left in my city which are in running condition.

[quote=john a milne;1659909]I just spoke to the Manager of MRF in Calcutta about a special order of white wall tires and he will check with their plant in Madras (I think) and let me know if it is possible and the minimum quantity required.

Would suggest that anyone interested, let me know ASAP.
Shipping the might be an issue, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Love those white walls!

Re: Classic sports cars in India (1945 - 1975)

I had been offered a 62 Fiat a few years ago, believe he's the original owner, mostly original in very good shape but didn't drive it as I didn't really need another car.

Now that they have become very scarce I am considering buying it and re-restoring WBF-1 for special occasions as it, to my knowledge, is the only Fiat 1100 in India with the factory Deluxe trim and was originally owned by a Bengali Movie actress, not to mention the Plate #.

The problem is the car is in Assam and I understand that transferring the ownership to Calcutta is not possible being an older model car. Not sure if I could drive it here with Assam plates. It's a dilemma as I would hate to see the car parted out.

Any suggestions?

Re: Fiat 1100 Deluxe - Specifications and Information

I heard from my friend in Gauhati that the Fiat 1100 had been sold and was "restored" new paint, tires and some mechanical work. The current owner now wants to sell it to get another car. Asking price is around R75,000.

Can anyone confirm the year and model?

Anyone interested please give contact me.

Re: Fiat 1100 Deluxe - Specifications and Information

The Tata Steel Annual Vintage car rally happened over this weekend at Jamshedpur. Due to work commitments I couldn't make it to the show and I requested my friend Jubonashya(Jubo) Dutta to participate with the car. We had an option to either send the car by truck or to drive it down to the event and back. The distance one way is about 300odd kms. Jubo was more than happy and willing to drive the car for the event. The car ran amazing well there and back and gave an amazing Milage of 12.5KM/L. They left from Kolkata at 5am on Friday and reached that same afternoon. Saturday was dedicated to judging and scrutiny. Our fellow BHPian MBZ180 (Prithvi Tagore) was the chief judge of the event and did a splendid job.

Sunday was the main day of the show with a 25-30km drive within the City followed by the Prize distribution.

The car did well and won 2 prizes. The first was The Best Fiat of the Show and the second was the Best car from 1961-1985.

Monday everyone left and was back in Kolkata by late evening. Letting the pics do more of the talking now.
