So the car is going to be on road soon. Kudos to your team for restoring this car with such dedication. Regarding the last minute (or rather last few days) niggling issues, they are waiting to creep in in any form and bitter the taste of chai which you just had in celebration of the resto work completion.lol:

Thanks Sagar, The team certainly needs a bigclap: They had been slow for sometime, but they certainly stood up to the occasion when needed.

Some pics.....

Well, Most of the work on the car almost complete, we are inching closer toward the Delivery.

Pending work:

1) Alternator bearing - issue started today during the Road Test
2) Rear seat - Back rest is lost, but will be found eventually:D
3) Cosmetic fittings pending
4) Engine cover needs a bit of work.

Sorry guys, i am unable to upload pics since morning:Frustrati

You know what Pavan?? I never read your restoration threads untill they are restored completely. Just to go through all of it in one single shot. So this is one such thread I avoided reading and started this week, hoping it would have been finally done.

DAMN....inches closer to it. :)

Kudos to you and your team for bringing out the absolute beauty of the vehicle. Take a BOW.:thumbs up

Hope you get over all the niggling issues and get this one rolling out.

Thank you buddy, This means a lot to me :)

While i am still facing trouble with few things on the car :Frustrati Cant help, since this was a complete grounds up restoration, lots of minute details has to be looked into. And i will never deliver the car to the car owners untill and unless its COMPLETELY DONE.

We have arrived at the last leg of the restoration on this car.

Found the rear seats back rest, found a suitable plexi-glass to suit the rear windshield.

Found a set of door lever covers.

One good 2 hours of job and the car, and it is good to go :)

Excellent Pavan Kadam, i have read all your threads and I would think how come he has this amount of patience to restore all VW.

patience is the key to success and you are proving it every time.

Hi Pavan,

Can you please tell me where one can get a repro Solex carb from? I need one for my Merc.

Regards
Prithvi

Buddy, let me check on this. If i come across anything as such, will keep you updated.

The last leg of restoration is really painful, how many times i had to go to and forth to get the rear plexiglass fitted.:Frustrati

Finally things are done, the car is 99% ready, but that last 1% is not happening. Planning to bunk my office tomorrow and get done with the work on the car.

BTW, the rear seats will get done in a couple of days, but the car will be delivered without them, only to avoid further delay at the workshop.

I am glad to see the final outcome Pavan ji. Hope the owner preserves it well and do justice to the extensive restoration work carried out on this car.

Thank you sagar,

There is good news, The car is delivered to its rightful owner finallyclap:

The car certainly is behaving fine right now, which makes me feel happy too.

Have taken some pics, will surely update it sometime soon. :)

Some Pics of the car.

Pavan, these pics dont do justice to the car nor your effort. Catch hold of the Bug's photographer and convince the new owner to lend it or drive along with you on a weekend morning and get better pics.

Ah.. finally its on road and its really looking good. With all those chrome bits shining at their full and superb shade (color) this VW will surely stand out in the crowd.
However, i think if the front no. plate was little less in height it would have looked even better. Just my opinion.

Congrats Pavan. Yet another excellent restoration. Hope the accounts are settled!:)

O.T:
Samsag12: why don't you put a picture of a shining Padmini in your Avatar rather than a rusting one!! It will tempt some people to buy(save) a Padmini at least. Please change. Just my opinion.
