Excellent work. Was the hind bumper chromed or keeping the old chroming? I can see some traces of rust in the joints, thats why the doubt.

It seems like year 2011 is going to be more promising with various restorations of yours at hand. Any more upcoming projects apart from these.:D Eagerly waiting for the year & new threads to commence.

The flexible brake hoses arrived today.

So, in all possiblities, the Brakes will be DONE 100%. Fitting a brake switch is posing a big issue, none matching this car.

OTOH, the intake manifold seems to be a hopeless Hope:Frustrati and i am running out of ideas.

Found the most elusive and almost extinct spare " The T3 Intake manifold" for this FastBack, I need to take good care of my T3's manifold now.:eek:

Now the mechanic's work is in full swing, though this is a used one, has a bit of aluminium welding that has to be done before it can go into the engine room.

Come what may, i have finally decided that this car will be completed before this weekend:cool:

I am not sure, how, Its a CHALLENGE, but yes its true.

The engine is finally firing on all cylinders in its full GLORYclap:

We have some small leakages on the tappet pushrods, which is a bit bothersome, but hopefully tomorrow we are trying to plug the leaks, lets see how.

The Electrician completed all his work, pending only for the wiper blade motor assembly which is not working, the core seems to have cracked. Trying to get a suitable replacement.

But apart from this as requested by members, the cost inclusive of all spares and labour.

ELECTRICALS - 16500/-

Today the Body rubber beading, HELLA Horn and the door garnishes arrived. All these will go on the car tomorrow.

@Pavan: Was it not possible to get the edges of the meters re-chromed or polished? had wanted to ask you when i had seen a pic of the meters in a previous post in this thread however slipped my mind.

And though the headlights maybe original and bulbs the original spec, don't you think the light is insufficient for our roads? IMHO Safety improvements are always justified even in a restoration.

The car has got a very powerful 90/100 Bosch headlights with separate wiring kit, The headlights are not ON, i have only put the parking lights.:D

The meter console originally comes with the chrome rings (they are chromed) but the inners are supposed to be painted silver, which will be done by wednesday, since the painter is working on some small touch-ups.

NICE! 90/100's are gonna be really bright! I really am looking forward to this car running! that smiling face of the VW just is so pretty!

I did the dashboard, and now its in ONE PIECE:D

Getting faux leather heat pressed on it right now, so that the cracks dont show up,

Other work on the car is in full swing, needed few spares to activate the break light (BRAKE SWITCH) had not found it, but today finally i was lucky enough.

Got the engine belt, alternator clamp made, new fuel pipes re-laid, Full brake lines re-done, all brake hoses changed, complete body rubber beadings installed, electricals 99% done.

Pending for the wiper motor assembly, acclerator pedal, rear plexi glass, side pop-out glass assembly not available, windshield beadings not available, reverse lights not yet come, painter needs to polish the whole car, tinker needs to look into final fittings, phew........ And the upholstery guys are now gone on a holiday, this might push the delivery date by a day or two.:Frustrati

I am getting too much worked up off late.

I am hoping against hope to finish the restoration by Saturday come what may.

Could you post a pic of the dashboard once its done? Can this heat pressing be done while the dash is in situ? or does it have to be taken out? Any pics of the procedure are welcome. Do you know of anyone in Pune who does this?

The Brake union and the brake switch gave us lots of trouble, the car never had one, and this was not available since a week, finally found a suitable one.

Now its fitted on the car, once the brakes are bleeded and adjusted, need to test the brakes by weekend. :)

The tunnel shroud is ready with high quality leather and canvas. Will be fitting it on the car by weekend. I was actually worried about this part, since without this, the car will run HOT....! and there are easy chances of ENGINE SEIZURES.

And......, this is custom made by, yours truly:Cheering:

Though today was a workshop holiday, i insisted that they work the first half day today.

1) Fitted the engine and body connecting shroud
2) Brakes 100% work done
3) Air directional shields under the engine fitted
4) Side glass beadings procured

And things took a nasty turn at the end.

That stupid glass which was dirty was an ordinary plane glass, not SEKURIT. While pressing the glass into its slot, the glass cracked right through my palm, making things difficult for me now.:eek: Need to order for toughned glass on monday.
