Could the pictures posted below be from the same Viceregal visit.

Don't think so Karthik, unless the car was totally re-bodied. Too many obvious differences like the mudguards, shape and number of door, lights etc.

On alighter note, the driver could have shared tips to the "actor" about hunting balck bucks :)

Many thanks to Aftab Khan for sharing this picture, his wife is from Jaora royal family.

Unlikely; those appear to be German and Japanese pre-war flags on the building.

Keen eye.....but it is indeed the Viceregal visit to Jaora State. In the second photo, you also see the "Stars and Stripes" and the British Ensign. So "Jaora" must have been an internationalist !

This superb picture of a 1930-ish Buick Tourer of Kathiwada is posted on this page

I saw the Nabha car c. 1972-75 near a dhaba on the campus of Delhi University. The riders were four or five bearded youths, some of them presumably from the Nabha family. The car was then dark blue and the hood was raised. The wooden accumulator boxes appeared particularly prominent as in the present pictures.

There must have been a prior or planned visit by the Consul Generals of Japan and Germany.

Hi Duncan I just went over your post again and realised that you mention the half track car, I’m not sure if I already asked you about it? As I can’t remember. What I do remember is seeing a half track hunting car whilst I was in Mayurbhanj, if I remember rightly it was a boatback possibly a citron? Are there any photos of it? Regards Allan

Thank you Travancore, Allan was there with my Uncle John and has reconnected with Richard thanks to your great forum. I look back with great wonder and nostaliga as I was a young kid and have very fond memories of my Uncle, as we all do at our "Blacksheep/Car Dealing" Uncles no doubt. He was quite a fellow with some wonderful stories and found some quite amazing cars over his short time. I grew up at the time working for my father in his Classic Motorbooks car business in the US reading books about these cars and was always thrilled to vist John as there was always something just unbelieveable to go for a ride in, a halftrack and a six wheeled scout ripping thru the streets of London was one of my earliest memories. These are the photos my cousin has and has kindly permitted me to post them for you. (I am struggling a bit with this confounded bulletin board set up so used to simple facebook now ha ha, please link for me if (required) I have been reading the emails and someone mentioned the car was in Belgium. The second photo my cousin said is from 65 I believe, my Uncle worked quite hard at building a relationship with his clients and whatever your politics he was definitely a gentleman enthusiast, who went far too quick.

Couple of pictures from Chhota Udepur

Thanks for sharing. The car was owned by the Tagore family, Prithvi Tagore is an active member here. Period images were posted by Faster and Harit earlier here and here. A very interesting car, maybe one day she could be repatriated.

In the present pics one can see the lovely old plate with cast letters, BLC 2951, which later changed to WBC 2951 after creation of West Bengal.
