Gogibhai, this Buick was a Mumbai car. Do you remember Gwalior Tank Mr. Carter? It was his. I have a pic of her taken by me in the mid 1980's which I have sent to the owner. That time she was sold to Pune and at that time the tractor tyres were fitted.
At one time this car was a hire car.
The present owner is not from Mumbai, but from Eastern India. The 1947 Caddy convertible on another thread also belongs to him.
A lovely, rare and valuable car in India!

The tractor/jeep tyres are seen in some of the pics too. More like Jeep tyres Id say.

Stopped by Sanjay's and was delighted to see the work starting on the 1929 Buick. With the front fenders off, hopefully he will be able to see the chassis # and with some help from the US find out more of it's history.

I have been doing some surfing and came across one of the best web-sites for Buick Cars, "prewarbuicks". It is filled with information and links to other Buick Sites.

Here's a shot of the rear body shell being scraped I took yesterday.

I hope considered thought will be given to choosing the right paint colors. I was looking at the maroon 1930 big Buick at last years New Delhi Statesman Rally and it lacked sizzle. Wish I had those kind of problems.

Hi,
These are pictures from today (20/3/2009). Now we are at a stage where the car is now getting dismantled from all sides. Will upload more pictures as and when work takes place. Tedious amount of body work is there in this car.

You should check around to see if those "cool" tires have any collectors value.

So pleased you are keeping us all up to date on your progress and a wonderful way to show your client what progress is being made.

I would hope more of the Restoration Shops around the country will begin documenting their work. Once the cars are finished it's impossible to know or understand how much of an ART & SCIENCE, SWEAT & VISION it takes to breath life into these refuges from the Scrap Yard!

Hi friends, this is where we are now, the doors along with the fenders are stripped. Now we are spending most of the time in getting the rust off, and subsequently acid treatment is going on. Will keep posting.

Hi friends,
This is the recent update on the buick. The detail pictures are here, at the moment we have completed reconstruction of the four doors, going through the alignment process.Also the four fenders are completed. We have also completed the back body. The main process going now is that we are just trying to align the repaired body parts.

I happened to meet the son of a previous owner of the Buick a few days ago. He reconfirmed that his dad had a contract with the Taj hotel to take passengers on sight seeing tours in Bombay. But nothing more is known. He does not have old pics.

Please keep coming as and when you can update us.

Please enlighten us, when handling mechanicals, engine, if some parts like gasket, piston, rings, if you did not get for this old cars, how do you acquire it or you custom made some parts. Please share your experience for overhauling or tuning engines of old cars.

So great to see the work progressing so well, miss being able to just drop in to see what'sup!

Don't miss the hot weather so much and with a little luck our temp here in Toronto will reach 17c this weekend and the flowers are just starting to pop their heads up.

Hows the Fiat progressing?

I spoke to an old friend in Kolkotta. He was mentioning about this Buick, but he said that it is a 6 cylinder engined car. I checked link 24, had a close look at the delco but now am not sure if 6 or 8 cylinders are there.
Can someone chek and let us know about this engine?
