For 20-30K I suggest LS2 Carbon/AGV. Shoei GT Air would cost Rs 70,000

Bought an LS2 Storm helmet for my wife. The primary reason was the lightweight. We were looking for a helmet below 5k as she was not keen on spending above 5k for her helmet. But considering the options in that price range, i didn't want her to purchase just any model and later complaint about neck pain and the helmet ending up laying unused. So on my insistence we finalized this model.
As stated by Neil Jericho in his review of the Storm helmet, the paint finish is top notch. Both the paint and liner quality is comparable to the likes of Scorpion EXO R1 which costs more than 3 times as much. I also think this is one of the lightest helmet in this price range as we compared this model with the SMKs, Axors, NHKs, and Zeus and whatever full face models were available at the shop. The Helmet weighs 1536 gm for size L. I also just learned online that the same model sells as LS2 Assault in USA

Congratulations to your better half on this new helmet! Do share some long term feedback on the product, in the months to come. You statement about it being comparable to helmets that cost 3x as much, is exactly what I told a couple of friends, in the recent past. I hope the importers of the LS2 brand arent reading this and decide to hike up the prices accordingly!

In the last week, a fellow TBHPian picked up one to match his VStrom and another helped his cousin pick one up.

I am travelling to Europe for sometime in the coming month . I intend on purchasing a new helmet there. I have my eyes on Airoh GP550S. But with the new ISI rules, does it make sense to splurge on such a helmet or would it be prudent to wait for ISI releases from other brands in India.

I am willing to spend upward of 20 to 30k for a premium helmet. Any better alternative for Airoh also will be appreciated.

aeeshaan007, the Airoh GP550S is a really good top of the line race helmet. Ive been using one for the past year. That said, keep an open mind and try out all the brands and offerings that fit your budget. If the Shark Race R Pro falls in your budget, do give that serious consideration, as well.

Realistically, the ISI mandate should have no bearing on your purchase. Whatever ISI certified helmets get launched, will be a tad expensive, as the importers have to pass on the cost of the certification.

.

Yes, I will be trying out other Helmets as well for sure. I will probably also have to get one set of spares considering unavailability in India.

The store I went to had only this model around 10k price range and that too in multiple colour options in different sizes. Maybe due to it selling in decent numbers. Also the recent ISI mandate has made our options very limited. There is no decent competitor for this helmet under 11k.
Considering all this, like you said, there is a high chance of a price hike in near future.

Got this for my son a couple of months ago.

Replaced the old HJC CL-Y with the MT Hummer Stark. Fit and finish is very good.

If you are happy with Axor then Axor Apex offers pinlock and a double D-ring. I have recently picked up two Axors, Axor Apex for highway rides and Axor Striker Hitman for city/short rides. They offer good value for money at Rs. 4994 and Rs. 2996 respectively.

Checked out the Apex and ended up picking up the Seadevil in gloss black/red. Tried the SMK Twister too but somehow wasn't too comfortable with the fit, though I was tempted by some of the colourways available.

Having used it for 3 days now, I love the internal visor. Still need to get used to the double D-ring mechanism. Cannot get the buckle without the help of a mirror as yet.
Got it for Rs.4650 at Riding Gears, Ibblur.

Got these two this month, have to still use them for able to give a feedback, but Scorpion R1 is super light and almost same weight as my caberg carbon fiber helmet.

Scorpion Exo R1 Air is the same what Fabio wears in a different graphics of course, that graphics was another 120$ extra.

Picked a Iridium blue visor with HJC, it adds quite a bit of character to the helmet.

Very eye catching and good stuff! But from where did you loot such awesome articles? Does this happen to you, that when you buy something for someone else and then feel like keeping it for yourself?

I would have kept that ST70! ;)

Ha ha, the ST70 is mine only, it's the AGV K3 that the friend got for himself. Sourced the ST70 from Singapore, which was then hand carried back by my friend.

Scorpion was hand carried by my brother from Switzerland!!

Got the LS2 Storm in a bright new matt graphic. Have just done a short 60-km ride and this baby is not silent, will require reinforcements to reduce the noise. Apart from that, initial impressions are good - it wraps around my face like a new girlfriend and is comfortable, but not quite...lol:

The actual color is much brighter, but appears a bit washed out in these images.
