Speed limits are based (in theory at least) on safety, not on the current performance of present-day vehicles.

And I have a story of the day that I learnt that even the speed limit for a road might be too fast for safety. For me, that day, it was.

The newest Highway - Trichy to Jayankondam has speed cams which also display our speed under "Your Speed" screen. Thankfully it isn't operational yet.

But looking from the setup, regulars can easily slow down a few hundred meters from that spot and escape any fines.

There is only one such cam in 30 km stretch that I drive daily.
