Re: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Review

So, you are as safe in Creta as you are in Tucson! What about the Euro/US spec Tuscon ?

Re: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Review

This is truly embarrassing, I had anyway dropped the plan to buy this, but this has just left me in more peace about my decision. 44 lacs for a 3 star rated car, shame on you Hyundai!!

Re: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Review

This is curtains for this product for me personally. No way I’m going to be spending 45L on this unsafe car.

Apples and oranges.

The car sold in Latin America is not the same as the one sold in Europe which is not the same as the one sold in India

Latin-NCAP is not the same as Euro-NCAP (might be similar) which is not the same as GNCAP.

So the 3 star Latin-NCAP CAN NOT directly translate to a 3 star GNCAP.

The Tucson sold in India is much closer (from a safety features point of view) to the Euro spec version than the Latin spec version. So if one is hypothetically approximating a non-GNCAP rating to the India spec Tucson, shouldn’t it be the Euro-NCAP 5 star rating rather than the Latin-NCAP 3 star rating?

Re: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Review

Not sure about the Latin-NCAP version but the Tucson sold in Europe is not the long wheelbase model. So I think that should come into consideration. This Latin-NCAP rating is huge shock in my opinion and is seriously making me consider discarding the new Tucson from my list of vehicles to check. Irrespective of safety features if made in Korea Tucson is scoring so bad on Latin-NCAP which is not as tough as Euro-NCAP eyebrows should be raised.

Fair point.
However, how might the prospective Indian Tucson customer be assured that the Tucson that made it to us ,despite being kits, has had no cost cutting that took place enroute?

The point is competitors have got the fodder and they will make the best use of it now, and also how much difference actually is there between US and Euro spec cars, Hyundai now needs to clarify.

If I was tata/VW, I will make the most of this now, you can always put a * and call it out in disclaimer that this is NCAP rating. Not every buyer is on team bhp, and right marketing can put enough doubt in a prospective buyer.

That said it still did get a 0 rating actually.

Re: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Review

This is indeed disappointing and would be good for Hyundai to come clear on what is it that we are getting in India.
The ANCAP has rated this 5 star:
https://www.ancap.com.au/safety-rati.../tucson/0b314b

I believe the kits we get are from Korea.
In the LNCAP, this is what I see:
https://www.latinncap.com/en/result/...on-+-6-airbags

From VIN KMHJB81DBPU158713 and date June 2 2022 (Korea production)
From VIN TMAJB81DAPJ199084 and date April 4 2022 (Chezc Republic production)

No way I am shelling 40L+ on 3 star rated car

What are the alternatives in the 40L price range?

re: Latin NCAP: 2022 Hyundai Tucson scores 0 stars

Actually it is happy situation.

Happy for those who might have felt the buyers remorse if this result had come after their purchase. Or those who have taken a clear decision now after the news.

Happy for those who inspite of this news are going to still proceed with the purchase, because their waiting period Is expected to reduce.

Tell me who is sad?

From the Latin NCAP images, this looks like the SWB variant sold in Mexico/Columbia/Ecuador. But the mexican variant is available only with a 2.5L GDi engine unlike the Euro version that has the 1.6L T-GDi/CRDi. I guess specifications wise Indian variant is closest to the ones sold in Australia than to Europe. ANCAP rated it 5 star but then we will never know unless the version sold here is tested, because the ANCAP rating for Tucson is more or less the same (to the exact same percentage) as EuroNCAP whether it is Adult/Child/Pedestrian protection or safety assist. Interestingly all of them went down in LatinNCAP alone! Is the ratings lot more stringent for LatinNCAP or is it that the ADAS features not present in LatinNCAP variant tested played such a big role? If it is ADAS alone, then are the Indian Platinum and Signature variants 2 stars apart for all or some of these NCAPs?
Wonder if the real reason is that they are manufactured to different safety standards at the same Korean/Czech plants for Europe, Latin America and India.
