I was at the fag end of 5 hour drive when this Innova with a political flag was chasing a stream of well driven cars for 30 odd minutes flicking his his lights furiously and honking so that people can make way for him. Every time he came close to overtaking me the traffic would slow down cause of the diversions and he would fall a few cars behind and it would take him another 5 - 7 minutes to get behind me. This continued for half hour at which point he decided it was OK to overtake from a non-existent road in the left and veer into the right in a blind spot (@0:09). Since I was aware what he was doing, I was expecting him in the blind spot. If someone wasn't aware there is a clear chance for swide swiping followed by a possible rear ending. You can see he continuous his crazy maneuvers later in the video too (@0:45). There are more videos of this crazy MUV doing stupid maneuvers recorded in the dash-cam but its simply not worth wasting our time over it.

I see the Innova guy driving fast and knowing that the right lane is mostly take over by trucks, he is sticking to the left lane mostly.

On the contrary I see you taking a sharp cut between the bus and truck whereas you could have waited for 15-20 seconds.

I'm sorry but I think the auto wala was inside his half of the road unless it was a one way. There's a No Overtaking sign as well. You seem to be occupying his space! :D

Forgive me if I have misunderstood the situation.

Crazy Indeed. However, i see a parked truck on the left Shoulder at around 00:12 seconds, which can pose a risk in such high speed crazy overtakes, if someone moves to left shoulder due to low CAS ( Crash Avoidance Space ).

This happens in a lot of places in Bombay where one lane is opened in the opposite direction to ease the traffic. Usually in one direction in the morning and one lane in the opposite lane is opened to ease traffic in the evening

In this case the entire flyover is actually for the way in which the OP is going. If you carefully see the last 2 seconds of the video you can see that people from the opposite lane is allowed in this lane just before the start of the flyover. So in this case the auto should be behind the santro. But well why to make life so boring by following the vehicle in front of you ;)

Now this is one hell of a crazy bad driver situation... SFPD pulls over a driverless ride hailing cab belonging to Cruise for driving without the headlights on at night :D

On an off note, while I am not in favor of machines replacing human labor, this might be a welcome service in Bangalore where the drivers keep cancelling on people left right and center.

Which camera is this and cost of install? Looking at your video makes me want to install it on all our cars! Its scary! Take a sip of water and there is no point fighting these idiots who got a balloon sized ego.

It's a 70mai A800S Dual Vision True 4K Dash Cam, Built-in GPS, ADAS, in-app Playback & Share, Optional Parking Monitoring (Front + Rear Cam). I disabled the ADAS as it was irritating.

Connection is to the cigarette lighter and the installation cost 1000 bucks.

After this video I also got a CPL filter.

From my dashcam. I made a small youtube video on the same. The bus tried to cut lanes aggressively. The etios suddenly decided at the last moment to not take the bridge.

Thank you for taking time and preparing a diagram - would have been very easy to ignore, otherwise.

Learning for the day for me :D. Will definitely try to put it in practice.

I know the dashcam might be distorting perspective but I winced at 0:10 with that overtake of the bus into a vanishing gap behind the truck.

Related question: Would the reverse parking sensors beep if someone is lying down on the ground next to the bumper? It's important to know that. In your case, I'm assuming there were no sensors since it was a rental car and I think it would have been a base variant?

Yes they do work if there's huge stone / dog anything behind. My Creta's sensors beep whenever I'm reversing into parking, there's metal pipe protruding out of ground about 20cm in length, and the right side sensors alert me always. My lazy dog also sleeps in parking often , the sensors catch her too lol: PS I always check if the driveway is clear, just mentioning that reverse sensors do work !

Then the authorities are to be blamed for letting the traffic in a one way flyover as anything can happen unexpectedly. If at all they want to let the traffic in the opposite direction, they should do it by having proper signs and lane markings. But it'll still be a bad idea.

By the way, that's a Wagon R not Santro.

True. Some places have this clear demarcation with the usual yellow boards connected by a rope, however most of the places it is now left open as it is the way it has been for long. Pertinent to note here is usually it is a single lane and most of the private cars do follow this diligently. The usual suspects - autos and 2 wheelers usually flout rules here. Even cabs and olas do follow this.

Bombay being bombay, bulk of the city goes to the north in the morning and return to south in the evening like ants.

It indeed is, the government bus was doing around 40Kmph and the gap opened up quiet comfortably by the time I was ahead of it, so I decided to switch left knowing that the Innova will dart in. Its not possible to figure this out with front dashcams.

Another forum member with similar observation had mentioned that I could have easily waited 15 - 20s. Those who use this stretch regularly would know, its pointless to do that as there is heavy slow traffic occupying both lanes. So its either a choice of adding a good 35-40 minutes to your trip or choose to find the gap and keep moving as long as its not a dangerous maneuver. I am a safe driver, but I am definitely not an over cautious one :-)

I had two encounters with idiots on the road in less than 24 hours !

Yesterday evening I was returning home in my car, I was about to cross a chowk, I see a DZier on the left waiting for his turn, I honk, flash my lights and continue straight. To my horror, this idiot also started moving forward into my lane, nor was he stopping or turning the car away from my car's path. Quickly checked my rear and left mirrors, saw empty road and turned my car towards left behind him. It was a close call, the guy had stopped right in the middle of the chowk. I too parked my car bit away and to the side, got down confronted him and he says he couldn't apply brake :Frustrati How does one fails to apply brake is beyond me. The guy was also visibly shaken by this close call, and there was no damage to either car s so I let go.

Fast forward today morning, had gone to grocery shopping, crossed a chowk, saw a guy coming on his bike from my left, with his neck bent (talking on the phone) I honked to alert him that I'm crossing, he saw me and yet he hit my scooter on the rear left side. He has the gall to say I hit him, how there was no damage to my scooter and started throwing abuses at me :Frustrati I got down, parked my scooter as it was and asked him to have a word with the RTO officer manning the chowk. Needless to say the guy apologised and sped away. What got me angered was his response - if there's no damage, why am I making a fuss ? What kind of moronic thinking is that. N number of things could go wrong in any accident, a simple fall from bike may be fatal. People are just too careless when it comes to driving / riding. Ride safe folks, and be prepared for all kinds of morons.
