It will take you around four to four and a half hours to reach Somnath(veraval) from Dwaraka. While driving down from Dwaraka to Somnath, Road conditions upto Porbandar are good. But from Porbandar onwards, roads are bad in patches.

Please see this thread : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...arka-okha.html

Just a clarification. As I'll be coming from Dwarka to Somnath, I'll first have to visit Sasan Gir before going to Somnath. So can I avoid the horrible stretch of road near Narwal ?

Very hectic schedule i must say.

1] nanded-loha-palam-gngakhed-parli is in good condition.
2] parli-parbhani-aundha is in bad condition. better take nanded route.
5] satara-umbraj-patan-chiplun-sangmeshwar-ganapatipule is in good condition except koynanagar-kumbharli section and around sangameshwar.

i suggest, instead of bangy-hyd-nanded, take bangy-hyd-nh9-zahirabad-bidar-udgir-ahmadpur-parali.
halt at parli/udgir/bidar.
next day, parli-nanded-aundha.
you will save some distance and time.

Re: MP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra road trip

For Indore to Ujjain, you need not cross Dewas. That is the train route hence it may seem that Dewas lies midway. You can go directly to Ujjain from Indore and save around 50kms.

+1

Indore-ujjain is nice 4lane road, the road is good enough to cover the distance in 45 min once outside of Indore.

The road goes via sanwer, don't know @NH27.

At Omkareshwar, only decent accommodation is at MPTDC's resort, i stayed there last year.
At Dwarka, its Hotel Daamji, the best,
at somnath, its devasthan's building,
ref my last year's travelogue '' four shiva and one krishna''.

dear HVK may have detailed info about entire route.

I took NH27 to Ujjain (from Indore, in 2009). It was a great drive although two lane then.

From Ujjain, you will be taking SH18 to rejoin NH79 (if my memory serves me right, taking a right at Badnawar). When we travelled NH79 to Chittaur, it was in shambles. But the four laning was in progress. I am not sure about it's current condition.

However you should not miss eating at this dhaba - "Lassi Makhan Wale Ka Dhaba" just 10 kilometers before Nimach.

I know the schedule is a bit cramped, but this was the best that I could plan with the available time and places to visit. Thanks a lot anyways

Is this place that popular ?? Because I remember reading in another travelogue on Team-Bhp where they had to wait for a table for 30 min, at 10:30 in the night Will definitely make it a point to visit this place.

Could have been my travelogue. I don't remember anyone else recommending this dhaba on the forum. As mentioned in my log, I am not sure if it was lack of good food that day or if it was genuinely great. We did enjoy the dinner very much and it indeed had a waiting at 10:45 PM. You can try and throw some additional light.

To avoid that horror road, you could go from Porbandar to Junagadh and then enter Gir from Junagadh. Then reach Somnath via Talala.

Rohit,
IMO Vapi to Ganpatipule would take at least 10 hrs. You would encounter traffic near Mumbai bypass region (between Vasai -Thane - Panvel- Pen). I guess that would slow down your average speed.

I see your point. What if I leave Vapi very early, like say 5 am and enter Mumbai by 8 am and exit Mumbai by max 10 am ? Then I might reach Ganapatipule by 3 pm.
Or is there a better plan that I'm missing on ?

5 am seems to be good time to leave in order to arrive at 3.00pm.
