Thanks for the complements! Those snaps were from point and shoot Canon which were taken almost a decade back. But after learning reasonable amount of basic post
processing, I took these old snaps out of closet, once I saw the old Karwar threads and and applied these principles to these old images.

But for now I use a Canon 550D +
- 70-200 F4 L (for almost everything) Thats my walk through lens,
- 10-22 (for wide angle)
- and 50mm Prime for mostly indoors.

PS: By the way I am just a beginner who started learning, thanks to many guys out here.
Naming a few would discredit so many of them !

I learnt with kit lens for a year and then slowly got my hands on other lenses as per need planned according to budget. Kit lens is one the very good lenses to start with and learn.

Re: Mumbai-Dandeli-Yana query

Sathodi falls may not be feasible at this time of the year, a friend of mine returned as the road had quite a few deep slush pits. It it has not rained then the trip can be done.

If you are travelling from Hubli, just before Yellapur there is a semi circular board just off the road on the right side. Take this road and keep taking left . The road
inside is very confusing , ask the locals if you need directions.

Another falls is the sherly falls its about 6-7 Kms from Yellapur towards Karwar, it's just off the road about 1.5-2 kms , Looks for a cement bus stop with "Shirley falls here" written in brick. Vehicle can been used for the approach , to reach the falls you need to pass through a farm who charge 10 RS per visitor.

Agree - read a few other reports and have dropped Sathodi. Actually not sure if I will even do Jog / Magod, since it will be too hectic: Karwar --> Yana --> Jog --> Magod --> Dharwad will be too much for one day and will not be doing to justice to any! Will probably plan another trip just doing the falls!

Thanks for pointing me toward this - sadly, will have to wait until next trip...

Re: Mumbai-Dandeli-Yana query

Sorry to hijack this thread.
I have a plan to visit Murdeshwar during October end.
I was contemplating on visiting Anshi and Dandeli on my return journey.
The only thing I am looking for is:
1. Jeep safari
2. Spotting a tiger and/ or elephants.

Can someone suggest if these are possible in Anshi/ Dandeli?
Or should I be going towards Madhya Pradesh for those?

There seems to be a ban on Safari in all Tiger Reserves in Karnataka following some Supreme Court order. Not sure if that applies to Anshi national Park too.

Re: Mumbai-Dandeli-Yana query

@dreamdiesel: I am glad that you informed me about this. I am still trying to figure out more about Anshi and Dandeli. They are not on the ban list, but did they have safari in the first place.
What animals can we expect to see there?

As per me Anshi is more of fun in landscapes and stunning valley views.
It still is worth from that point of view. For safaris, I do agree there is not much. But again if there is water in Kali river, you can also do river rafting at Dandeli jungle lodges.

My objective is to take my 3.5 year old son on a jeep safari. He is primarily interested in elephants, tigers and hyenas.
Nothing else.

Re: Mumbai-Dandeli-Yana query

S_U_N, I did the route last week and have the latest updates The ban on tiger tourism was lifted two days ago - sadly one day after my return :( I was told that the moment they lift the ban, the safari would commence again. The safaris are from Dandeli, which is not too far from Ganeshgudi (refer my reply to your thread).
Last week the water from the Supa dam was not yet released, but hopefully it is now and you can do white water rafting. The rafting may not be very exciting since its only level 1 and bit of level 2 rapids. You can also do a coracle ride, not very thrilling but good to see water birds.
If you stay at Old Magazine House at Ganeshgudi, you can spot lots of birds - we spotted 40 different species - each one spectacular - in a matter of 2 days. You can also see the Great Malabar Squirrel and if lucky, the Flying Squirrel. Strongly recommend you drive via Anshi with a stop at Old Magazine House. From there, Murudeshwar is an easy drive (Karwar is only 100 kms) and the road via Anshi is very very good except for a 6 km stretch between Kumbharwada and Anshi that is very bad. My i20 negotiated it without a problem, so it shouldn't be much of a bother.
Drop me a PM if you want more details.

Thank you for the updates. My plan is a little different. I will write about it in the other thread.
