How long will it take from Pangong Tso to Jispa. I believe the distance is 420 Km which is a real log drive in this terrain. Is it doable in a single day? I believe there are no good night halts en route. I do not want to stay in a tent ( in a place like Pang)as I will be with my family

Wari la will have too much snow.
As for Pangong to Jispa, its a 17-18 hours drive minimum. Best to stay at Sarchu which has luxury tents.
Since manali leh highway has opened now, tents should be up by mid june.

Although I have done Ladakh circuit in 2011 it was on 2 wheels this time around I will be in my XUV along with another friend in his Fortuner & whole whole bunch as passengers...

I wanted to know few details on following routes,

1. Is it possible to start post lunch from Jammu & reach Srinagar same day by nightfall?

2. Last time around post crossing Kargil we spent more than 5-6 hours crossing the Mulbekh section due to road works.. is it still the same?

3. Agam - Shayok - Pangong route will be in drivable conditions by July mid?

4. Is there any chance of stay or camping option near Tangyar??

5. Is there any option of camping near Pangong??

Are you sure about Manali Leh Highway? Because the leh Ladakh website still states it to be closed.

BRO made an announcement couple of days back. Manali admin takes some time to update(3-4 days).
after that, it can take upto a week for the status to come online

Any updates on whether permits are being given for the Chusul sector this year?

I got a fresh update. Due to recent snowfall, the road temporarily closed again. But should open in next 3-4 days once they clear the avalanches. This type of road closure immediately after opening is very common. But by 10th June all should be good

I read that a permit is needed for the Manali-Leh route; enforced by the HP government. I am planning to do Leh-Manali in mid-June this year (entering Leh from Srinagar), will I still need the permit? Where do I get it?

Thanks.

No, permit is needed for crossing Rohtang from Manali side, and is issued at green tax barrier.
Its actually not a permit. Its just saying "we are greedy, and want your money, pay up"

Thanks for the input.

Would you be able to share any information on the current road conditions (quality, construction work, repairs, etc) for the Srinagar - Leh (planning June 9-10) and the Leh - Tso Moriri - Manali (planning 18-19 June) routes.

I have been using the NH 1A over the last couple of days (Pathankot-Udhampur-Patnitop-Pahalgam), significant repair work is on, on many stretches across the route so far. Some streches are particularly bad and there were a number of traffic jams, especially upto the Jawahar tunnel.

Road is in bad shape. Pathankot-Srinagar will have jams and potholes
Srinagar Leh is bad at Zoji La. After Sonmarg, and Zoji La its good.

Manali Leh will be bumpy too (is always like this in june) at the passes, esp Baralacha la and Rohtang

Folks,

What will be the best route from Delhi to Jammu at this time of the year considering the road conditions. I will be leaving for my Ladakh trip tomorrow morning.

3 days to go. All set :)

What are the latest News on opening of Pensi La & Wari La? As per my itinerary, I should be at Pensi La on 15th or 16th June & at Wari La on 19th or 20th or 21st June (provided they are open). What are the chances of both passes opening on these dates?

Pensi La is open. Wari La should be open. But you will get info from Leh taxi drivers.

Finally decided the route, Looking forward for this trip

Please recommend if there are any changes required.

Thanks,
