Hi enthusiasts,

I'm from Bangalore and a friend of mine has requested me for a car photo-shoot of his newly bought XUV500.

I am looking at spots where i can get a round up of a good landscape view along with different terrains for example: grasslands, paddy fields, undulated, plain, broken roads, path less trodden, sunrise / sunset spots etc.

It would be great if you can give me a hint or two on places in and around Bangalore that you would have personally seen or heard about.

Thanks GTO and SunnyBoi for the suggestions ! I'm inclined to coax my client into dashing for Nandi tomorrow morning. That also gives me opportunity to try a time lapse sequence with the rising sun.

The other place i've marked is Gunjur village near Sarjapur Road against some paddy field backdrop.

If you can frame a photo in your head then you can take a great shot anywhere. You don't need cool looking locations. A simple example attached. This photo was taken by one of our mods of my car and we didn't go hunting for any specific location. This was taken with the car parked on the shoulder of the road that leads to Nandi Hills.



But this is just my two cents and I am a complete noob when it comes to photography.

Edit: The only criteria that I remember the mod being particular about when taking the photo was lighting.

Jigani(Beyond Bannerghatta) - Harohalli(Kanakapura road) state highway. There are some very good photo shoot locations with the backdrop of hills. You have to enter this SH from Jigani side, drive for around 5-6 km, cross a village called Krishnadoddi and you'll reach this location. Do not venture beyond a village called Thattakere as it comes under Bannerghatta National Park and is also an elephant corridor.

If you are going to Nandi Hills for click the sunrise, forget it unless you are going to stay there over night. They wont let you in before 6am and there will be huge queues to enter (to buy the ticket). Going up there at 4am or so is a hassle with police trying to fleece you as it is restricted at nights from what I have heard. One of my friend, who bought a new camera, tried going there last weekend, and returned back without entering in seeing the crowds.

The photo by GTO looks like Ramanagaram (and not Nandi Hills) OR probably enroute to Nandi (foothills of Nandi hills). This should not be a problem if you want to go early in the mornings.

I am no photographer but that is complete HDR overdose. The only consolation being that you found a nice location.

The XUV and the surroundings look very shiny, metallic, coppery sort of like what one might encounter in one of these new fangled SFX heavy movies.

thanks for the feedback, Shankar and Vikram. you claim you ain't any photographer but your opinions are pro like ;-)

I've packed in 15 different exposures into this HDR. The thing about HDRs is that most of the times it's a hit or miss. The depth impresses some but the bling turns off the rest.
In this case the client liked the rendering but you're right in that it's probably a tad overdone.

Apart from highlands and plain fields, you can also try and play around with the lights. Try taking the XUV out at night and park it in a corner of a moderately busy road. May be it would sound better if you knew the kind of picture i had in my mind. Well you might have to play with it but you can really get something amazing out of it.
