I came late to this post. What a beautiful journey you are undertaking. Something I would also like to do in a stretch. Please post the travelogue in detail, leave nothing out.

If there is any route queries about M.P, U.P, Bihar and Jharkhand, do not hesitate to ask. Buy 2 paper maps, can be bought at any decent bookshop, costs 40-50 rupees.

Route taken: Gandhinagar -Ahmendabad - Chandial - Kathlal - Ladvel - Godhra - Limkeda - Dahod - Jhabua - Indore

Once you take a turn from NH48 to NH47 there are not many food options available, so plan accordingly.
For those who want to take advantage of difference in fuel prices before crossing Guj to MP, there are hardly any fuel stations closer to border. One IOC fuel station is available closer to Dahod, I guess about 2 -3 kms before Dahod (this is about 25 km before border), but it sells only Diesel. If you want petrol, take a deviation off NH47 to Dahod smart city, in about 500 mts in, you have another IOC station where you can fill petrol. Found one more Reliance petrol station after Dahod, I think it was after about 8 Kms or so. As i had already filled petrol, didnt check what is available here. No fuel stations after this in Guj on this route.

All the best for your wonderful life time experience trip. I wish you could buy a new car for this marathon trip. 98000 on the Skoda Fabia 6-8 year old car is the only thing concerning me. Fabia being sold very less, after 98k on odo, I am sure little bugs are going to pop up enroute. Finding spare just in case is going to be an affair. Also taking into safety, pre 2015 fabia with 1 (or 2? ) airbag and equipped only with ABS is too old tech to rely on. Does it have esp? EBD? BA ?

My chevy beat 2011 which has clocked 185k on odo runs perfectly, but has seeked regular maintainace or change of part owning to its age and odo. After 100k kms I have changed ignition coil at 90k, suspension at 120 k, clutch at 135k, break booster at 140k, Complete colant system and rubber tubes overhaul at 155k and a few bit more to upkeep its condition. Now it serves me with local and short HW trips . Now it has started to show up difficulty in reaching 120s, a sign of engine overhaul?.

I strongly recommend you to buy a new car or a 2-4 year old used car with all safety features to complete this trip with peace!

Route taken: Jammu - Udhampur - Patni top - Ramban - Banihal - Srinagar.
On this route we took Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee tunnel (9.2 kms length) and Banihal - Qazikund tunnel ( 8.45 kms length).

We had to extend our stay in Srinagar due to road closure for maintenance between Sonmarg and Kargil.

Route taken: Lucknow - Purvanchal Expressway - Buxar - Arrah - Patna

Note about Purvanchal Expressway : 329 KM road, you enter at the beginning and exit at the end of the expressway. 6 lane highway with very little traffic.
I had to break or change gear only when I wanted to stop for a break. I had to use horn just once. Was able to cover this stretch in 4:15 mins with about 30 - 40 mins break.
Maximum speed limit here is 100 KMs, but as of now there is no monitoring in place to check the speed.
Toll paid - 0 (Toll booths are getting built)
No fuel stations in this stretch. (getting built)
You will find a restaurant to eat after covering more than 300 KMs. (Few places are getting ready, guess fuel stations and restaurants will be in same premises)
Toilet facilities are available in 3 - 4 places along this route.

Route taken : Purnia - Baisi - Kishanganj - Islampur - Siliguri - Sevoke - Kalimpong - Rangpo - Gangtok



Route taken : Gangtok - Rangpo - Sevoke - Jalpaiguri - Barobisha - Gossaigaon - Bongaigaon



Route taken: Bongaigaon - Simlaguri -Pathrela -Rangia - Guwahati

Route taken: Kohima - Mao ( ILP is done here) - Maram Bazar - Senapati - Kangpokpi - Kanglatongbi - Imphal



Route taken: Imphal - Bishnupur - Jouzangtek - Longsai - Khoupum Valley - Rengpang - Jiribam - Lakhipur - Silchar

Note : Section between Jouzangtek to Rengpang is narrow road with bit broken sections in between ( 68 kms ). Rengpang to Jeribam ( 92 kms) is filled with crater like sections with little road in between.

I was told there is an alternate route available that goes via Bishnupur - Singngat - Hliappui - Aizawl , not sure how is the road quality of it.



Route taken: Silchar - Lailapur - Vairengte ( ILP done here) - Vakultuy - Bikhawthlir - Kolasib - Bulpui - Mualvum - Aizawl
