Look for Eicher Maps in a bookstore like Gangarams or Sapna Book House.

If you need an online map of Bangalore, have a look at iCiti.in - interactive | intelligent | informative (BETA) .

I have never seen any map better than what you can get from google. Either google earth, or wikimapia.com (which also uses google's very same maps) can give you maps for both cities and inter-city roads in a way no other can.

Beyond google earth, i don't see the need to buy any maps at all!

Deepak

If you're looking at road atlas, buy Lonely Planet's India & Bangladesh Road Atlas. It also has high level major city maps.

It is an amazing reference and pretty accurate. I always keep it in car.

Available at all neighborhood book stores in Bangalore. Let me know in case you have trouble finding it.

IMS and TTK maps are quite good. IMS produces district-wise road maps of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Please don't rely on the Eicher Road Atlas of India - it is full of mistakes, most of them unpardonable (in places over 20 years out of date). The IMS maps are perhaps the more reliable of the lot. For Goa, best is to pick them up from Goa Tourism.

ttk maps are good, you can buy them in Jayanagar 4th blk market "NIIT Building" next lane parallel to janata bazaar(BDA complex), basement has a book store.

You can also buy indian maps/tourist guides/travel companions etc online from here

you get ttk maps albeit overpriced in most bookshops. You can always take a print from online maps: google, yahoo, msn, mapmyindia et al.

lonely planet road atlas (the old edition) is pretty good. but seriously, online you get a good enough idea

I have Eicher Maps for Bangalore City and India Roads (not sure of the title).. Have been pretty happy with it, especially the B'lore map. I haven't seen any TTK stuff yet. Is this ttk stuff better than Eicher stuff?

All the Eicher City maps are outstanding (since they themselves have done the surveys presumably), but the India Road Atlas is awful - they themselves acknowledged that they have to rely on Survey of India maps, etc etc.

Where to buy detailed road maps from?

Apologies in advance for a very elementary question - but could anyone please tell me where to buy good, updated, road maps (showing SHs and NHs) from?

Thanks in advance!

Before travel, I do google maps and then take a printout. I used to use Eicher and local Karnataka roadmap. But now I have stopped and its Google all the way. Their get directions feature is also very useful.

Not sure how google maps for cell phones works? Although I too have it, but the GPRS rates escalate when you travel across states. The tariff is not the same.

Hope this helps.
