Driving from Pune to Cochin?

I drove from Kundapura till Ernakulam via NH 17. The road work is still in progress and many flyovers are still in construction across Mangalore. There are patches of 4 lanes with some parts still being 2 lane. It is much better than the older days.

Between thalassery and mahe the road as usual continues to be very narrow.

After Mahe towards Kozhikode bypass, between 40 & 50 KMs before the start of the bypass, there is a very narrow bridge that usually has a traffic jam. I was stuck in traffic from about mid night till about 1:30 AM there last week.

It would be better to travel via Bangalore and come down via Kuthiran. Expect some bad stretches around this area as the tunnel work is still in progress.
