Where in Bihar do you want to transport a car from, and which is the destination? those are the pertinent questions that need to be answered first.

Actually, it would be from Ranchi (Jharkhand) to Lucknow directly but there is every likelihood of of first traveling to Patna from Ranchi & then moving onto Lucknow from there.
This would probably be sometime in last week of January or early February next year.

i did delhi to ranchi quite a few times . the last one being in march this year. it is way better to drive than to get it transported . The road from barhi onwards is fantastic.
apart from a stretch just after and before allahabad and of course allahabad town itself.

For Ranchi-Lucknow, from Ranchi, get to Barhi along the Hazaribagh Road (good road, but not great), turn left on to NH2 till Kanpur (superlative expressway), then follow the NH25 route to Lucknow - the road condition is described here: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...know-mess.html

If you plan to go to Patna from Ranchi, carry on across the NH2 from Barhi towards Gaya, and then on to Patna. Here I would suggest you backtrack to Barhi and use the NH2 as decribed above. Any other route out of Patna, though shorter, would mean more time, fuel and wear-and-tear on your car (apart from greater risks due to lawless elements) than sticking to the NH2.

The Allahabad bypass is now operational, and one need not enter Allahabad city and go through the bad traffic and road conditions any more.

Thanks. How about the road conditions if I move towards Siwan from Patna & then take the NH 28 towards Gorakhpur to reach Lucknow?

for ranchi patna the conventional route is RNC- RAMGARH-HZB-BARHI(cross nh2)-nawada-rajaouli- bakkhtiyarpur -biharsharif-patna. no need to visit gaya
