There was a scare yesterday in some portions of Chennai city. Also Chennai Petroleum refinery is undergoing maintanance shut down which reduces the output by 1/3rd and is expected to run for 3 weeks.

Seems like the diesel shortage has subsided, not sure if its a good idea to have 10lts stored in a can for emergency though....unless there is any regulation preventing this

I don't think so. And the diesel shortage is not so alarming that you won't get any diesel anywhere in TN !! You could probably fill up before you leave and again looking at filling up when you hit the half tank mark. That way you still have enough for quite a long distance and you are insuring yourself against a dry tank !!

Some pumps do rationing so you might get 5 or 10 litres only at a time. Which is still ok.

Innova Gurus,

Planning to take my family on a trip from Bangalore in our Innova. The trip will be from Bangalore to Trichy-Thanjavur-Madurai-Rameshwaram-Kanniyakumari-Madurai-Bangalore. The approx round trip would be 1800km.

Our Innova is 6.5 months old and has run 6950km. The first two services are also done. Before commencing the trip, I plan to have the vehicle checked just to be sure.

In the above context, I request your guidance and inputs on the important things to be considered for the trip - with reference to the vehicle/spares/drive. Please also share your similar experiences. This would be of great and invaluable help.

P.S. I have read thru the posts on the route and more or less have finalised on the route from BLR TO TRICHY.

However, I could not find much inputs on the route from TRICHY-MADURAI-RAMESHWARAM-KANNIYAKUMARI-MADURAI-BANGALORE. Please also share your inputs/suggestions on this too.

if you are going to thanjavur try to visit the living chola temples (thanjavur, Gangaikondacholapuram (rajendra chola constructed), and dharasuram (veera rajendra chola constructed) work spending a day for these if you are interested

Summary: Nelamangala-NICE-Hosur-Salem-Namakkal-Musiri-Trichy,

I think today Musiri is in much better shape compared to NH67.

The best route I will suggest in the other way.Take Bangalore Krishangiri Dharmapuri Salem Madurai till Madurai. Visit Madurai and proceed to Rameswaram and have your dharshan etc. From there you can directly go to Trichy the road is same as Madurai Rameswaram Road. These roads are state Highways are not as good as Nh. From Trichy take Tiruverambur Vallam Tanjore Highway, which is smooth like a butter except in a couple of places.Come back to Trichy and take salem road and Catch the same road you came.
