Take the road via Pune and not via Aurangabad. Once at Pune you get 4-lane all the way. Distance wise its the same.

This trip from Dhule to Shirdi was done some time back. From A'bad, till Atul you are fine. To get to Nashik via Atul is a tough ask in the monsoons through hilly areas.

I had traveled about 5 years back while coming from Jaisalmer via Ahmedabad to Shirdi.

Atul to Suthrapada is good.

Suthrapada - Umrale BK

It is all Ghat sections and not advisable to do night journey.
The roads are pretty bad and huge long trucks make the journey pretty bad.
This distance took me around 3 hrs with a short break for 15mins.
Absolutely no facilities enroute this stretch.

Umrale BK - Nasik was better as the road progressed.
