I stayed @ Blue Mormon for 3 days/2 nights in May-2010.
It is a decent holiday resort. The rooms/bunglows are not of "delux" quality but they are clean and neat. The food is good. The staff was very courteous.
We had pre-booked a 5-bedroom bunglow for 5 families but on reaching the place we thought we would rather get the rooms which were near the main office and restaurant. The manager (I think his name was Mr. Valase-Patil) immediately changed our booking.
The resort is surrounded by jungle. It is spread over a large area and it's very nice to take a walk around. Also, we spotted deers from the resort. They were far away on the other side of the valley but it was cool.
We are planning to travel from Mumbai to Kolhapur and from there to our native place in Rajapur district. The broad itinerary would be:
Day 1: Start from home, travel to Pune - Halt for lunch - Reach Kolhapur by evening - night stay (including dinner)
Day 2: Start from Kolhapur in the morning - drive to native place (around 2.5 hrs) - travel to a couple of nearby places - lunch - drive back to Kolhapur for night stay (including dinner)
Day 3: Start from Kolhapur - reach Pune for lunch - Reach home by evening
I am looking for a good accomodation in/around Kolhapur:
1. Suitable for a big family: Should be clean and neat. AC rooms not really required. Should be free from roaches and mosquitoes. Preferably within civilization in case we need to go out to buy medicines or other essentials.
2. Must have either ground floor accomodation or have elevator facility: For my mom who cannot climb stairs
The stay would be for two nights. What are the options and what are the rates? We are seven adults (with one senior citizen) and two small kids (both less than 2 yrs).
Try Hotel Pearl, it's just before the ST stand on the right side lane. Rates are very reasonable, the rooms are nice & very very spacious. The food is good too.
You wouldn't have to drive too deep into the city from the expressway, & it's well known incase you ask for directions.
Ranjit, what is the capacity of the suite type accomodation in Raysons Regency? The website doesn't mention a specific number.

No idea, best to check with the hotel.
@honeybee: I have stayed in both Hotel Pearl and Hotel Raysons Regency. They are situated adjacent to each other and just about 3 kms from the highway, just after theTara Rani Chowk. Raysons is slightly less costly than Pearl. Food in Pearl is excellent. The buffet breakfast comes as complimentary with the room tariff. Both these are highly recommended. I would not know about the number of persons who can be accomodated in a suite. However, in the double room, they can accomodate one extra person, so you would need about 3 rooms to meet your requirements.
Have a safe trip.
I have stayed at Hotel Pavillion twice in the past.
I am writing of course as of my stay there about 2 years back and don't know if anything has changed there.
Best thing about this hotel is ample free space around it on both in the front and behind and it's just a 2 storied building. Lots of trees around etc. It's really refreshing if you have time to take a stroll in the campus. You can feel that even if you go to its satellite images in maps.
This is a surprisingly not-much-talked-about hotel. It's not a very jazzy type hotel though you will find well maintained and clean rooms.
Biggest downside is (rather was unless they have worked on it) no restaurant facility. They just manage to provide a complimentary breakfast. However a few of best restaurants in Kolhapur are just a stone's throw away from here. Triveni and one more whose name I forgot are just outside the campus. If you go to main road there are many more. This is very close from the station.
The non a/c rooms are all on ground floor. So that suits your needs (at least as of I have been there - better to check this.)
You can check their website for contact details.

Hi - We are a family with a baby traveling to Mysore next week. We would really appreciate if someone can help with information about Homestays in Mysore.
We would require a Kitchen hence prefer homestays. I've read enough about hotels in Mysore and thankful for the information already, so anymore information on hotels are kindly not required.
If the homestay is little bit around Mysore, that is fine too. But not very far from the city such that it becomes unsafe or difficult to reach city.
Myself and my wife stayed at the following hotels during our
Leh expedition:
Peanut, Nagpur. Booked through MakeMyTrip.com. Paid Rs 1900 per night for a non-AC double room.
Hotel Sapphire, Amritsar
Booked through MakeMyTrip.com. Paid Rs 2880 for a double room for two nights.
Hotel Mirage, Srinagar
Booked through MakeMyTrip.com. Paid Rs 3996 for a double room for two nights inclusive of breakfast.
Padma Hotel & Guest House, Leh. Paid Rs 1550 for a double room per night with secured car parking.
Hotel KLG, Chandigarh. Booked through MakeMyTrip.com. Paid Rs 6466 for a double room for two nights inclusive of breakfast.
Ginger Hotels, Surat. Paid Rs 2759.04 for a double room for a night through online reservation.
All these hotels had ample car parking facility. Highly recommended.:thumbs up
Stayed at Green Peace Holiday. Goa Home last week for 4 nights.
Excellent place, very well maintained serviced apartment. You have good parking place where you can park the car and roam round hiring a two wheeler. It is less than a km away from Candolim Beach.
Suggested the place to my friends also after i left last week and even they gave a :thumbs upabout the place.
