Is "Shirdi-Mumbai" route safe for night travelling !!

I have planned a Shirdi Darshan with family where-in I have two days after Darshan to catch flight from Mumbai.

To utilize the time at best I have planned to leave from Shirdi in night, as many Volvo bus do operate in between Shirdi-Mumbai route in nights. But somehow family is against the idea and suggests to hire a taxi and leave early morning from Shirdi. I am a bit inclined towards the night travel to utilize the days at best but somehow family members are a bit horrified with night travel that too at a totally unknown route.

So, Is it safe to travel on Shirdi-Mumbai via Volvo at nights ?? Any good & reliable operators ??

Cheers

It is safe, just check with the tour operator on the route they take, particularly in nights you should not travel via goti as it is not safe, it is a shorter route and empty too, so you can cover a lot in short time, the regular highway has lot of traffic and safe, I have done empty number of times in the night.

Check with just dial and you will have numbers for volvo service to shirdi.

Jai Sai ram

Thanks,

Saint

You will save atleast 30-45min if not wrong, it is a single highway with almost minimal traffic and the road is smooth like butter, you can really speed.

ghoti is more like a bypass, you dont have to go all the way to nasik.its saves a good 90 mins or so. roads are good (though the railway crossing in ghoti is a pain, atleast during monsoons)

you should also do 'shani signapur' along with your shirdi trip(60km from shirdi)

if you plan to reach shirdi by morning ,do the darshan say by noon.

shani signapur and lunch should be over by 4pm.

you can then head back and be in mumbai around midnight or start off from shirdi around dinner time and be in mumbai next morning

Eternity is something like this

Day1 Reach Nashik and leave for Shirdi
Day2 Have Darshan in morning, Visit Shani Mandir and Leave for Mumbai
Day3 Reach Mumbai in Morning and Wander around
Day4 Wander around and catch flight by eve

The all program looks like a perfect the only issue is to reach Mumbai i.e. weather leave late night or early morning from shirdi. One can have full day available with us if we can reach mumbai by morning but somehow family is but concerned about shirdi-mumbai route.

You don't need to worry about the night drive in a bus (actually a waste if you stay back in Shirdi once you have done the darshan, nothing to do literally) it is usually safe, just avoid ghoti route, did you check with them what route they take from Shirdi to Mumbai.....

shirdi-mumbai route is totally safe at night. don't worry about safety.
some people do mumbai-shirdi route by walking[ new breed of varkaries with shorts and sports shoes with ipod].
i suggest delhi-pune flight and pune-shirdi-shani shinganapur-ranjangaon ganapati-pune route by taxi. then pune-mahabaleshwar-pune by volvo or taxi. then pune -delhi by flight. this entire trip can be done in three days.

Thanks for the advice guys..

I was going through bus booking and found only 2 operators in night i.e. Raj Travels and Neeta Travels.

Is "Shirdi-Mumbai" route safe for night travelling !!-raj-travel.jpg
Is "Shirdi-Mumbai" route safe for night travelling !!-raj-travel1.jpg

Query 1: I know about Raj travels but somehow didn't heard of Neeta Travels. Any experiences with Neeta travels ??

Query 2: Also as advised of taking up the highway route only Neeta is taking more time i.e. 8 Hrs against 7 Hrs taken by Raj Travels. Does this mean that Raj is taking the shorter route anyhow ??

Neeta is also very big in the business, so dont worry about it, I will advise you to call them and speak to them on the route that they will take on their way back, with the time difference seems Neeta is taking the highway, but please check with both of them, it is better to know before you book them, dont forget to take the name of the person you speak to, as it helps in future if there is an issue

Thanked: Once

I did this trip 2 years back by Raj. While going towards Shirdi we went via Nasik. On our way back we left at 3.30 pm in a special bus that Raj had organized due to rush. This bus took the alternate route, completely bypassing nasik. I found this route to be good as the road was good.
But this was in the evening, not sure about night time.
But the regular buses do take the nasik route only.
Neeta takes a little longer as it takes a few more halts and Raj drivers drive a little faster!
