i too was on the lookout for weekend getaways from Hyderabad with max 5-6 hrs of drive one way. But gave up after going through all travel sites, looks like HYD is cursed.

If any one of you has discovered a hidden cove, then do kindly share the same. Thanks.

Hi Jatin,

Seems you have not come across the following thread:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...hyderabad.html

It does list a few places with accomodation. Check it out.

Cheers,

Trip is on

Well after much deliberation with my better half regarding various options regarding this weekend trip, we settled down on Coorg.

This is the itinerary that I have planned:
  1. Leave Hyderabad no later than 1.00 AM on 8.5.2009
  2. Reach Bangalore by 8.00 A.M.
  3. Have breakfast in B'lore.
  4. Leave B'lore by 9.00 A.M.
  5. Reach Madikeri by 2.00 PM.
I would like to know from veterans if this is doable or not. I intend to stop at Bylekuppe while going and come back by the Nagarhole route. Also is there a possibility of skipping B'lore city and move from NH7 to Mysore Road.

Route suggestions please

P.s: Prinzeahead I have PM'ed you.

Cheers

MC, it is very much doable but start at 11PM (latest by midnight) to get into Bangalore by 8AM.
Give me a call if you want any guidance inside bangalore.

Ani, nice to see your trip is on. I am sure the newly acquired juices are really flowing

But, there is no way you will reach Blore at 8am if you leave at 1am since 9 hours is the minimum you need to reach bangalore and dont forget you need to run-in the engine too.

Please go armed with a camera and maintain a log as well as it will be really helpful for someone like me who may visit coorg in near future. My luck seems to be running out and some unseen forces are stopping my trip, therefore, this weekend visit to mahabaleshwar is cancelled and have booked for next week. Let's see if that happens too or not

Have a nice trip, MC. BTW, have you plonked a new engine into your car, or have you bought a new one? Congrats anyway!

Hi Anirudha,I have sent you a reply, plese check it. as other suggested it would take approx 9-10hrs to reach Bangalore.

Do not stop in bangalore for breakfast. By the time you get out of town you would be boiling with frustration thanks to traffic. Instead stop for breakfast outside bangalore.

If you intend to stop by at Bylekuppe on the way to madikeri then it would not be possible to reach within 5hrs.

You could take the outer ring road just before entering bangalore and reach mysore road without having to enter the city.

Trip Update

I started at 2 am from Hyderabad, an hour later than designated. Reached Bangalore at 11.30 am. Had a few business meetings through the day. Left Bangalore at 5.30 p.m. Presently about 85 km from Mysore. Heading towards Coorg.

@Mods: Request to change the title to Hyderabad Coorg Roadtrip and put it in the travelogue section.

Can someone give a bit detailed route description about bypassing bangalore to get to the mysore road? Like where do I get this outer ring road and which way to go?
I am planning a trip to Coorg from Hyderabad during the next weekend.

Hey buddy. The best people to answer that would be the resident bangaloreans like akroy. Iam not very familiar with the ring roads in bangalore, despite having stayed for all my life here. If you need help with traveling in Coorg or anything else in Coorg, I would be more than happy to help.
