April Mid to May First week - COORG?

Hey Guys,

We have some time offs in mid April or Early May. Planning to go to a Hillstation.

Thought of visiting Mysore & Coorg this time. However want to know if the weather will be good overthere or its hot and waste of time?

Thanks!

Mysore will be quite hot and so too will Coorg but depending on the place you choose in Coorg, evenings and nights will be pleasant. I would suggest either Ooty & Kodaikanal. Even maybe Munnar. And last but not the least, travelling is never a waste of time !

I'll suggest you keep tabs on the weather reports. The area around the Chikmagalur-Coorg-Wayanad belt has been having rains on and off for the past few days and that seems to be the trend for the days to come. I suggest you strike of Coorg and head to somewhere in Chikmagalur or Munnar side if you want good weather.

But then weather can change at any point of time to a complete opposite.

Keep track of it here!

I thought of Coorg for this weekend, but gave up because it would be extremely hot. Chikmagalur may be a better option. Even I heard that its been raining their in the last week. May be cooler and nicer.

Best would be to try Munnar. Nothing to beat that place.

Coorg is hot an dry! This is the update I got from my colleagues who visited the place this weekend.

Munnar is the place to go. Its evergreen :-) the drive is awesome too. Chikmagalur and its surroundings (Muliyangiri, Kemmanagundi, etc) can also be considered.

Route to Munnar? Help please

Hi Guys,

Spoke to wifey, she is all game for Munnar.

Now the big question, which route to take. I did search a lot of threads here, but not able to finalize as many of them are very old before road works are complete.

Can someone narrow down to me please? I stay at East tambaram and getting onto NH45 is easy?

I saw in threads and maps - couple of routes -
1. Chennai - Trichy-Dindigul-Theni-Munnar
2. Chennai-Trichy-Karur-Not able to choose inbetween roads-Munnar
3. Chennai-CBE-Munnar

Now I really want to avoid the Dindigul road after trichy because of what I saw recently, dont want to spoil the car here.

thanks

+1! Was there last weekend and it was hot! Spent most of my time in a nearby river. And the drive to Talacauvery to view the sun set was negated by heavy mist, but the weather was super cool!

What is wrong with the Dindigul road? And I hope you are planning the Theni - Munnar climb during day time.

I saw that Trichy-Dindigul Road is not complete & the road was not so good while comparing to NH45 till Trichy.

I saw that another option is Chennai-Madurai-Theni-Munnar - I am sure that this route has all the way quite good roads. Is it longer?

Also anyone can tell if Ooty is worth going now or is it hot as well compared to Munnar?

thank you!

Take the regular route. Chennai-Krishnagiri-Salem-Perindurai-Kangeyam-Dharapuram-Udumalpet-Munnar. One way to drive till Salem, take a break and start the next day. Distances are comparable (NH45 versus NH7)

Ooty is also nice to go. Mercury would about 10-20. Definitely worth going.

Thank you sir ! Looks like you are doing both Ooty and Munnar!
Udumalpet has a rustic charm about the place, I really liked it !

As to name I have not yet revealed it in any post !
I like the guy called Mr Ampere very much !
In my school days, I was pretty fanatical about all the magnetic
fields solved by Mr Ampere !

Quite an eccentric one, isnt it !
Mods Sorry for the OT.

Re: April Mid to May First week - COORG?

Guys, reviving this thread.
Wanted to Know, how is the weather in Coorg now for April 1st week trip. We know it will be a little hot around that time in Coorg but will it be uncomfortable? We don't mind if it's a little hot but pleasant. What we know that evenings would be cool and pleasant. We are looking for a 3 day trip from Hyderabad.
Any updates / advices?
