Both KSRTC (Karnataka) and APSRTC operate regular volvo schedules. You can choose either of them.

Suggest you to stick with KSRTC, Karnataka volvo service to tirupathi.
I have travelled by both KSRTC and APSRTC volvo from Bangalore to Tirupathi and felt KSRTC is better. Would recommend to skip the private service operators.

And they are very very good ! 2-3 buses at night from 9 to 11 PM.
2-3 in the day from Tirupathi starting (2-4PM).

Book online on the KSRTC site.

In case you are interested in a package deal or something, you can try KSTDC (Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation) & AP Tourism. Both have Volvo services from Bangalore apart from the KSRTC & APSRTC services.

KSRTC or APSRTC

Had a very bad experience with Greenline Travels few months ago. Thoroughly unprofessional behavior & shoddy service.

KSTDC is the one to go for. They have 2 buses starting in the evening which reach Tirupati by 3-4 am .They do have a tie up with a hotel in Tirupati where one can freshen up and change before going to the temple.
You are back in Bangalore by 4-5 pm the next day.Overall ,a very professional and reliable service

Any day, I would pick the KSRTC Airawath service. It is by far the best experience compared to all the other private operators. If not Airawath, APSRTC would be second choice. Don't go with private buses, my personal experience is not very encouraging.

Choose the KSRTC specifically for going to Tirupathi. Thats because, at Majestic the platform for APSRTC can keep changing. Though they have one designated, but buses do leave from other places! KSRTC is more consistent for that matter. For return all one needs to do is go to the Tirupathi bus station at 2PM. Buses start 2-3. This can be either APSRTC or KSRTC, does not matter. Just hop on to which ever you get.

Generally there would be huge rush from "Tirupathi to Bangalore" if returning on Sunday.
Would recommend to book tickets in advance.

If you plan an over night bus, then yes better book. For the day journey, it becomes difficult to figure when will darshan get over. And hence you cant book it planning to return during the day !

I agree, but just to be on the safer side felt prmd_cochin should get the tickets booked at a time he thinks is appropriate as this is the holiday season.
There were times when I have waited in the Tirupathi bus stand stranded even in afternoons as most buses were full and this was last year.
