I am not familiar as such. But I drove long back. I log all the drives on a Garmin and then come back and see all the stats and roads covered. Thats why the familiarity. There is no association as such.

After six years of waiting, the last mile connection from Mukkombu to Trichy (part of NH67) is being taken up now. Sometimes, the vehicles coming from Karur to Trichy are diverted to go to Kulithalai - Musiri - Uthamar Kovil - Tollgate to reach Trichy. The road is strengthened and a concrete wall is constructed along the Kaveri river. Hope the road widening will be completed in a month.

So travelling to Munnar/Udumalpet/Pollachi from Chennai via - Trichy - Karur - Dharapuram will be a good alternative route to Chennai - Salem - Avanashi - Palladam & Chennai - Trichy - Dindugal - Oddachatram route.

Any idea what is the status of the flyover being built at Dharapuram and Pollachi? Both were undergoing construction, and detours due to construction work was a pain - especially as both were on the main bus stand road.

Dharapuram flyover (Madurai - Coimbatore/Tirupur road) was completed in July and opened for traffic immediately. I think this is one of the very few flyovers that was constructed during pandemic times. Are you referring to the pedestrian subway near Pollachi bus stand? Heard that it was completed.

The incompleted stretch between Trichy to Mukkombu (part of NH 67) is almost completed (still a 1 km portion is pending near Jeyapuram). The road is fine, the signboard works and white markings are pending as of 15th April.

I have planned to drive once this lockdown is lifted and will post an update.

Finally completed, the entire Karur–Trichy route is a pleasure to drive.

The road is still only two lanes wide, and the four-lane portion begins after Mayanur and ends when it reaches the Karur-Dindugal highway.
