To reach Ganeshgudi my pick is take nh4 and near Hubli plan to take any roads. All one and the same!


I am visiting my native place near Kumta/Sirsi in 1st week of April, we are planning to visit Dandeli area this time although it would very hot summer Today I received information to travel from Karwar to Dandeli. Take Anshi road from Karwar, Near Anshi take right towards Ulavi and near Ulavi cross you need to take left which goes to Dandeli. This road is much better than road via Anshi ghat(very bad road for 25km).

This info. is from trusted person, Also on the way you may visit Sintheri rocks and few view points! I found very good homestay near by as well.

If the plan is to goto Dandeli from Sirsi, there is a road from Yellapur itself. No need to go to Karwar as well. Not sure about the road status though.

The Sirsi-Yellapura-Haliyal-Dandeli road is in great form, and you will enjoy driving through some very scenic landscapes on a very good road.

The Anshi-Ulavi road rejoins the Anshi-Supa Dam road, is that what you are saying? Is it also equally dense jungles as the Anshi-Supa Dam route?

Thanks sir!. I was aware that Sirsi Yellapur is good, but was not sure of the road from Yellapur to Dandeli via Haliyal.

I visited that side last week, we had great time! We took Kumta-Ankola-Karwar-Anshi- right turn to Ulavi - Kumbarwada - Joida route and stayed in Joida and roamed nearby places. It was fun visiting dense forests and boating and friends. Very good road all the way and we avoided every bad route by taking deviation.

So did you return via Joida-Dandeli-Yellapur? Or you took the same route for return as well?
Those places are amazing and one can enjoy to heart's content!

We returned by same route because of lack of time although we wanted to come back via Ambika Nagar-Yellapur.

Sorry I saw your response late. In fact I am told that now the Kadra-Yellapur SH is also functional. (I am not sure of it.)

But earlier it was surely closed since it was very close to the Kaiga plant.

Kadra - Yellapur road is open 2 years back itself but during last year's rain many stretches are washed away. But still one can drive slowly thru. this beautiful curvy small road. I hope soon road repair work will be completed.

Just wanted to check if the Kadra-Yellapur route goes via Kodasalli dam or via the Kaiga plant. (I am aware of the Kaiga plant route and not the other)
Is there a route from Kodasalli to Yellapur?

On Sep 4 & 5, 2014 - I did the Yellapur - Keslur Cross - Dandeli - Ganeshgudi - Left at Bapeli Cross - to Potoli Cross - Right towards Syntheri Rocks and Ulavi - down past Kadra to Sadashivagad just north of Karwar

Outstanding drive (and road) all the way, except for a very small stretch within Dandeli town to Barchi gate.

My trip done on 15th May 2015

Bangalore-Dharwad(Via NH4)-Alnawar Exit-Ramnagar -Turn left on the signboard that says Karwar-another 20 kms OLd magazine House,Ganeshgudi

Total 509 kms(from Hennur)Travel time 7h30m.The road was butter smooth all the way.Just be very careful in the drive from Hubli Byepass to Dharwad-just a two lan road for 28 kms with heavy traffic and highly accident prone

I was advised by the locals that Hubli-Haliyal-Dandeli-GaneshGudi route is also in very good condition and is more scenic

What you are saying is 100 % correct. The road between Karwar and Ramnagar ( I think 120 odd kms) is just perfect!!

Not one pothole , and the road is absolutely flat and level. Very scenic drive and just the highlight of my drive.
