Yes it's the same. Opposite to Bus stand.
Now If you enter Chikmagalur, you'll feel like as if you have entered a city which had an Earthquake or a war recently . This is due to Road widening in the City, this is been going for more then 3 years.....

Hey Sushrutha, I am sure Opp. to Bus Stand you meant the Bus Depot?

Its Soundarya Delux Restaurant Opp. to the Bus Stand however.

And you are right on the current scene in CKM, especially the IG road. There are jams on these roads nowadays!!

Hotel Soundarya, That's where you get one of the worst Lunch in CKM itseems. I have never tried

I doubt you guys have been through Hassan recently. Your IG road looks far far better than BM road

Addy, I took the road through Hassan city way back from Belur last Tuesday. It made me feel I was driving on Mars!! Right from Thanneruhalla all the way till Surya Stores, the roads have deteriorated to the worst. The road connecting bypass to Thanneruhalla over the railway tracks better be avoided. I saw a Ford Ikon stuck in a huge pothole. I could manage but way back even knowing that city roads have gone to dogs, I opted for it.

I took the regular Hassan by-pass which Parag and Addy had suggested.

But the road though provided the path of minimum discomfort, but nothing less than a 4x4 experience!

Right now, that is the only viable way to reach Belur road (towards Chikmagalur) from NH 48. Traveling through Hassan is a big pain and nowadays there are traffic jams happening on the bad stretches (especially on tuesdays). All the approaches to Hassan except for Bangalore Road are in terrible condition and there no alternatives to avoid it.

Been travelling through Hassan town as of now...
Heck it's not just Hassan or CKM, same holds good for Shimoga too.

I agree, except for 0.5kms of this stretch being bad , rest of the Bypass is in good condition.

And the pain of driving through this stretch was obliterated when I reached the Belur road!
