Any suggestions for a good stay. With an infant with me I don't intend to do too much of sightseeing though.

Villa Retreat (http://www.villaretreat.com/) is a decent option too. This is next to coakers walk.

Hello friends,

Looking for advice and checking out this thread for a good accommodation for family trip to Kodaikanal, I am checking the villa retreat but it seems fully booked. Does anyone have experience with Le Poshe by Sparsa or any other good options for family stay with reasonable budget.

Thanks in advance

Probably late for you, but here it is anyway.

No idea about Sparsa, but Le Poshe has smallish rooms, but has all the facilities one can think of. If you are looking for a quieter neighborhood, then I recommend Sabari Inn or Pearwoods.

Rebooting the thread.

Can anyone shed some light on good place to stay in Kodai.
I am just looking for some time to unwind in a good resort.

Note : Not interested in side seeing. Just want to spend time with family.

Carlton is one. You can also look at Fern Creek.

Try Yagappa Heritage Resort. Great location, very quiet, friendly staff and a great place to sit down and unwind.

Fern Creek offered one of the best hotel experiences ever when I visited some 6-7 years back. Rain played spoilsport though but their hospitality, food, rooms were all brilliant. The dude even called me after checkout to see if our return journey was pleasant. I think his name is Praveen.

+1 to the suggestions on Carlton and FernCreek. Have stayed at both and they were good. From a hospitality perspective, Ferncreek was better, but this was again 5 years back. Carlton was also good, and right next to the Kodai Lake

Le Poshe by Sparsa is an option you can look at. It is little away from the town and lake, but will work since you are not looking for sightseeing. We stayed here last year and the experience was very good

Re: Good hotels / resorts in Kodaikanal

Thanks ampere, One:1, naveen.raju & arvind71181 for the suggestions.

After exploring few options, I shortlisted the following,

Carlton (No vacancy during week end)
Tamara (Was too expensive for my budget)
Great Trails Kodaikanal by GRT

and Finally went ahead with Great Trails Kodaikanal by GRT as I got a good deal.

Ambience 5/5 :
This property is built over the slopes of the hills and therefore one needs to climb steps/walk over steep roads.
Since the location of this place is a little outside (~7kms from the lake) the city, you can feel the calmness.
This place has 2 separate indoor games room, also has few outdoor activities like zipline, net climbing, children play area (small).
The resturant has nice seating arrangement.

Room 5/5 :
We chose to stay in Chalet type rooms which had all wooden interiors. 300 series rooms had a fantastic view from the room and had a additional sitout area.
Size of the rooms were spacious with a 2 seater sofa and a tea table.
Sleep quality was excellent.
Washrooms were clean & spotless and had a separate shower cabinet. Basic toilteries, dental kits were provided.

Food 3.5/5 :
Breakfast Buffet spread was decent enough - Had idly, upma/kichadi, poori, cut fruits, bread section, live dosa & egg counters daily.
I felt the menu options for lunch and dinner was a little limited and can be improved. (For lunch and dinner there was no buffet option available)
Service was fantastic and the friendly.

Overall 4/5 :
This is a very nice place if you want to relax and enjoy the climate with your loved ones.
Ample car parking is available for ~10 cars.

Bumping up this thread. Any recent experiences and suggestions for decent accommodations in Kodai for a first time visitor? Will be going there in my own vehicle and will also be doing sightseeing.

Given it's vacation time most properties will be at a premium, you can also look for homestay or private bungalows available for rent through airbnb etc, some of them are located in amazing locations. The best hotel/resort in there is Tamara , no doubt.

Avoid going to usual tourist spots and perhaps drive a bit away from the main town area to enjoy the beautiful place. Start very early from Bangalore of course.

LUXEGLAMP is an excellent one. I hadn’t been there personally but someone I know had been there recently and had shared pictures.

Ofcourse, camping isn’t for everyone and if you don’t fancy tents and just a place to sleep, it might not work for you, regardless of regular or Luxury Camping.
