Might be true, bcos, AFAIK, for Fords, there is no oil change during 1st service. Just like me not paying anything for the 2nd free service of the Baleno as the oil change is only at 10K km intervals.

You are contradicting yourself here. BTW, the figures are from my friends who own Ikons. Ofcourse, this does not mean that all Ikon owners are paying in this range. It is only an indicative opinion.

You started it by quoting me from some other thread, due to which I had to put down my view.

supremebaleno,I don't want to argue with you anymore..stop quoting me...I was speaking about Paid+free servicing...read my entire post carefully.....you just keep quoting people at your own convenience without understanding the gist of the message. The figures you are quoting is blown up......I had myself done lot of investigation before proceeding on my purchase...this would be my last post on this thread...and I won't reply to you or your quotes on this thread henceforth...

Fine with me.
But if you are the kind that avoids discussions, then it would be useful to remember not to bring others into it, by quoting them. I was just an observer on this thread limiting myself to reading the posts, till post#25 where you quoted me from another thread. And what did you expect me to do, other than putting forward my views ?
All you have done till date is the 1st free service and you are expounding on paid services, etc. And if non-owners cannot comment on a car from the experience of their friends/relatives, then I guess most of the posts on the forum would need to be deleted.

Sorry guys, had to butt in with my two cents here ......Ikon 1.6, my free services were five years ago but.........no costs other than oil, oil filter & fuel filter (in the third one). SB, I think for those who are quoting 2.5-3k for FREE services....maybe there were other issues resulting in cost of components and warranty periods may have been over.

Even now, at 10k intervals, my service cost components are those stated above plus labour....brake pads are checked for wear & tear and changed every 20k kms or more; that pushes those service costs up but other than that....a blanket 2-3k for every service is not normal.

These days, of course, don't forget the service tax component on labour (that you pay for all & sundry be they Ikons, Balenos whatever) which also pushes costs up!

Cheers

suman, agree with what you say about the possibility of other issues (except for the warranty part - bcos warranty lasts atleast till the 3rd service or more). And have also mentioned in previous posts that what I quoted is just what my friends have paid. And that it is only indicative. Did I say that all Ikons incur this kind of costs ?

I mean, just because he claims that he went around the service centre checking other customers bills and found them to be lower than what my friends had to pay, does that mean that all car owners pay only that amount ?

And regarding my visiting a Ford centre, I can't get the logic behind that. Do you take your Flair to a MASS ? Most certainly not. And if that is the case, does it make you ineligible to quote what a Maruti car owner told you about his car ? I don't think so.

Was just browsing the archives and came across a 10K ownership report of the Flair (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/283556-post1.html). Quoting from the report.

Which is quite in tune with what my friends said they paid (between 2-3K) for the free services, and which was quoted by me. Hope this clears any doubts / misconceptions.

And this is what sammyboy has to say about the FE.

regarding ikon a/c problem i have to change the "valve" for time beacuse of hot air coming from a/c one of the way of avoiding it is not to fiddle with "cooling" button.at this cost ikon is fun and average should be 11.5 to 12, rocam 1.3 is not bad and you can have your "mini josh" machine at a afrfordable price

Why not consider Ford Fiesta 1.4 Petrol? Seems to be better than all others in its segment.

If you are looking for more of good looks, boot and a sedan over hatchback, then go for Flair.

If you want hasslefree ownership with good FE and resale, go for esteem.

If you want bigger can than esteem with hasslefree ownership and good resale, but not-so-good FE, go for Accent. (You can't get fully loaded Accent in this budget though).

If you dont care for brand image and resale, but good performer with good FE/power/handling/ride, look no further than Petra. I can personally vouch for that.

Hey KPzen... i got my car last week... an accent GLE

All you guys thank you so much for all the help you've given so far.... it was really useful. And about the delay, it was only because i was spending all my time with the new member in my family...

As of now, no serious problems (touch wood!). But, the ppl who put the sun film have messed up the front left door window and it tends to misalign when i slide it down all the way.. will get that thing checked up. Oh and i dint know that the rear windows dont go all the way down... in fact quite a sizeable chunk stays as it is... i would say the window goes down to around 80% of the available area... is this how it is in all accents or only mine??

Oh and can anyone tell me how to remove that ugly "Bharat Stage III" sticker on the boot of the car, cleanly without leaving a trace??

Thanks a lot once again...
