I cannot dissuade enough against the 7DCT. Huge number of issues among BHPians and other Creta DCT users. No proper solution has been found by Hyundai yet despite the TCU being in the market for 3-4 years.

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna | Which engine + gearbox combination would you buy?

I drove the Kia 1.4 Turbo and the IVT back to back last week before I went to the Verna showroom.
The 1.4 turbo impressed me much. IVT was so linear in the power, that there wasnt a kick felt while driving.

I could only take a 1.5 Turbo DCT test drive of the Verna as the IVT wasnt available. But as my luck have it, I drove in really heavy traffic and wasnt able to check the performance of the car.

Also, after reading the Creta DCT issues on this forum, I would stay away from DCT, so I chose the 1.5 IVT.

I don't care about dangerously high speeds anymore. What I enjoy more is the acceleration & mid-range.

The 1.5L turbo will be more fun to rev from 0 - 80 or 0 - 100.

The 1.5L turbo will be more fun to suddenly accelerate from 40 - 80 kmph, or 60 - 120 kmph.

I have been fortunate to experience good turbo diesels, the only way to match their effortless real world performance is to have a direct injection turbo petrol aka GDi.

I was very impressed with the small GDi engine in Sonet - I will take the turbo any day.

Can't vote. Going ahead with MT Turbo. Love the control a manual provides on the car, and the urge to make the shifts as smooth and quick as possible, gives a feeling of achievement and control! Went ahead and booked the MT Turbo, as that fit's my budget and driving style also. Still have years before I slide into the age where MT would be overhead and Auto would be the only sense making decision.

Agree. But 0-60 only, accomplished in 2nd gear.
