Which car in around 6L?

Dear All,

This is my first post here and I look forward to your comments and suggestions. I want to buy a car (petrol) for my Dad (with chauffer) and my budget is around 6L. Since there are many choices, it only leads to confusion...

The average daily running is around 25kms and main priorities are:
1) Comfort and Space;
2) Fuel Efficiency;
3) Zero/Low maintenance.

My dad's choice is Esteem. However I do not want to spend 5L+ on a car which is almost a decade old with just average interiors, space. etc. I have short-listed the following:
1) Swift
2) Getz Prime
3) Accent
4) Aveo 1.4

Pls let me have your views/suggestions in deciding on this one.

Thanks & Regards!

If you are asking about comfort and milage then I would suggest you to go for Getz Prime. Aveo 1.4 shouldnt be a bad option either.

Hi, I think the Swift seems to be the only reasonable choice, but rear leg-room could be an issue. The Aveo looks cool, but has always trailed the Fiesta in magazine reviews. Talking of the Fiesta, why aren't you considering it ?

The Aveo 1.4 is a good option.

- Swift will not offer the back seat comfort your dad will be looking for since it is chauffeur driven.

-Accent: I think the Esteem is still a better option than Accent.

-Aveo: I think this is the best bet amongst your choices.

Another car that will satisfy your first two requirements is the Ikon Flair. However A.S.S and maintenance costs is an issue. I own it and know that maintenance is high

Aveo 1.4 would be a better option here. It is more comfortable and spacious, comes with GM's 3yrs/1 Lakh kms warranty and they are offering 3yrs/45000 kms Service Package.

Why no Fiesta in the short list? IMO, it's far superior to the Aveo. Since comfort and space are among the main priorities you could also check out the Logan.

For Comfort & Space, better to go for a Sedan, Test drive Aveo 1.4, Fiesta 1.4 and Logan, and then decide!

I suspect Fiesta maintenance is bit high of the lot, owners please confirm?

For your requirement plan with Sedan, Actually hatches are ideal for people who travel alone most of the times and with small family.

Sedan will give you very good practicality features. Aveo is very nice Sedan in every aspects.

If still plan for Hatchback Getz is good choice for you. Very smooth and silent car.

Aveo and Logan both are good entry level Sedans which can compete with 1 segment higher as well.

Regards,

Ravi.

Hi Lokesh, Welcome to team Bhp.
My advice will be to go for Aveo1.4. prime reason for this is as you mentioned it will be chauffer driven. Then SWIFT doesn't make any sense. Accent is outdated. You can check Fiesta 1.4 also. In terms of comfort, space, interiors and ride quality, Aveo1.4 is way ahead of fiesta1.4 whereas Fiesta has better performance in terms of engine response, pickup and gear quality. But in your case as it is going to be chauffer driven, Aveo makes more sense. Check out both the cars yourself and see which one do you like more.

Dear all,

Thanks for your replies/suggestions.

1) rishibravo>> I think both are good options. The high end variant of Getz prime is around 5.35L on road. Aveo 1.4 base is around 6.5L on road. Do you think adding an extra 70K and going for Aveo would be a better option. Also, I'm not sure about Getz's FE.

Dear im_srini,

I've not considered Fiesta as it is around 6.55 on road and there are no discounts at all. Also I've heard Fiesta diesel is much better and selling better than petrol.

Hey Unknown,

Aveo 1.4 will cost me 6.05L on road whereas NHC GXI will cost around 7.9L on road. Too much of a difference. But surely NHC rocks!!!

Considered Indigo? Within your budget and the GLX has a decent 1.4 engine. Very spacious.

NOT the swift, unless your dad fancies sitting with the chaffeur.

Though on your dad's criteria - the esteem is actually decent, and its a pretty nice car if you can get over the staid image.
